I made one years ago (snow cave in a deep snow embankment). Heated it with a candle all night and it was toasty. Walls turned to ice. I kept smoothing them as they melted. Total silence inside, you literally can hear your heart beating

    NARROW LAKE, B.C.

    Driving in.

This is a remote spot. No one goes here. Big time grizzly country.

    More shoreline pictures.

    IMG_2105.JPG

This lake produced some awesome kokanee and rainbow trout!

    IMG_2102.JPG

I found an old trappers cabin... Deadly. I would love to know who built this....They say there is a Lancaster bomber at the bottom of this lake. It landed here in the middle of winter because of an emergency. The air crew hiked out, and in the spring, the plane melted through the ice and sunk....My mom used to go fishing here with my grandpa and said they could see the plane on a clear sunny day in the summer ...

there is a huge amount of old timer pilots, trappers, wilderness types and history buffs in BC......that follow and research military and civilian airplane crash sites.

I have been spending years researching the 1 ton of nazi gold that crashed in BC........

    Yes!

I didn't go to work today. I am having a hard time being in Alberta...The Edmonton area anyway. Decent place, but when you grow up in central BC, nothing can fill that void. I need to go home.

    Need some bush time.

I drove 1.5 hours to get to this spot. Ridiculous.

    Whatever.

    Here is my story!

I got to my spot and walked in. Perfect weather today. -8C.

    IMG_2172.JPG

There was more snow out this way than in the grove...A solid 8" here. Nothing like the 4' of snow that i'm used to. I'm sure @Reno Lewis can attest to the canadian winters of central/northern BC.

    IMG_2174.JPG

I made my way through the patches of pine and found a creepy trail through some swampy area filled with black spruce.

    IMG_2178.JPG

It was a damn game highway, Sign of elk, deer and moose absolutely everywhere.

    View attachment 20475

    Creepy.

    IMG_2181.JPG

In all honesty, I love this swampy dense black spruce forest. It's a safe place.

    IMG_2182.JPG

    IMG_2188.JPG

If i was going to spent the night, I would use this as a fire reflector, or a one of the walls for my shelter.

    IMG_2189.JPG

Didn't take me long to find some fatwood. Going to keep this for later!

    IMG_2191.JPG

    IMG_2192.JPG

    More coming.
