Yes sir! Your fire starter was an easy quick solution to my problem. I couldn't take any chances with Kaine being cold.

    Thanks brother.

Good show. Nothing like a sled to promote over packing.

Best post I've seen in weeks buddy.
you hit a lot of points I don't think people realize are even a concern or reality until they get out there and experience it themselves. The gloves freezing stiff, then shrinking. Been there, makes feel silly, doesn't it. How many ribs you need on a lean-to for the weight of snow too. The scandi grind info you added too! Most importantly, if you have an established camp, always leave reliable (dry as can be) kindling and tinder. Under snow, kindling like pine straw, conifer twigs and cones are under snow. Birch, as tinder can be stripped wet or snow covered and can be worked out to light up, but those small toothpick/pencil thick pieces are what is hard to replace when you arrive and want a fire right away.

    All,

The shovel is coming along, and my sanity is leaving. Shutdowns are upon me. This is a good thing, work is a good thing, but its busy as hell. No bush time. Time to make hay while the sun shines.

Posting about whats been going on tomorrow morning. @Bushman5 has been keeping tabs on me and making sure i'm all good. I'm lucky to have a brother like him.

Here are a few teaser pics.

More uploads from recent adventures. Work is really starting to pick up so I will likely be MIA for the next 70 days.

Enjoy the pictures. Will post a write up later.

March 25th, 2018 - Last trip before shutdowns start. Bittersweet day.

I'm going to start this thread with a bunch of friction fire pictures from me practicing the other day. Hand drill and bow drill methods produced excellent results.

Hand drill was mullein on Cedar.

Friction fire is a passion of mine. I love the fact that with some practice, you can consistently create fire with primitive methods.
