I bought a used Esee 6 a little over a week ago in less than ideal cosmetic state.
Previous owner lost it outside in the rain for a while... 1095 doesn't like that.
No big deal as I plan to use it, not baby it but I like my knives took look well loved.

This is how it looked on arrival:

Restoring the edge is no issue, a few passes over my wet-stones, a bit of stropping and it's better than new :D

First some scrubbing to see if that would get rid of the rust
Partial success but far from perfect.
As the powdercoating was still in tact I decided to see if I could etch the rust away and deepen the logo's a bit with Ammonium Persulfate.
Here's some pictures from before, during and after the process:

This is after the initial scrubbing, but before etching.

Etching solution on an let it soak... see the bubbles forming :D

After a while the rust was all gone from the blade and the logo's are a bit deeper.
I'm happy with how it turned out.

Now the screws need some more love and attention, there still a bit of brown on those.

That looks good as new! I have used baking soda and a toothbrush with great results in the past....

Since Radio Shack is mostly out of business, what etching solution do you recommend?
