I was just going to mention Russian watches. I just realized I have four of them. Three Vostok Amphibians, and a Sturmanskie. Depending on the model you can get them for $60 - $70 shipped from fleabay, or other sources. Mine are all reliable, keep great time, and look pretty good for an inexpensive, mechanical watch.

I find I wear them a lot as they are interesting, but also good beater watches. While I don't abuse any of my things, I don't feel badly wearing one while cutting the lawn, going to the beach, hiking, biking, range, etc. They must be tough as they've never stopped on me, or missed a beat!

I carry a pocket watch. If you were willing to do digital then I would send you a G Shock for free. I never use it. Still have the book for it. Already comes with that worn look but works great.
    Sorry about your father.

so after much browsing and drooling and budget etc.......i've decided to go with the
Luminox Land A.8817.GO Black Ops Carbon Series

I like the simple style, the trit tubes, color and simple webbing strap. Price is in my budget.

    This could change. ......lol

but i just like the looks and basic function and waterproof / trit glo of that watch. It stood out amongst all the rest.

So going to throw money into a coffee can for a few weeks and pick it up in the fall.

Mom does have a watch for me...have not seen it yet. Would have preferred my Dad's watch, but she buried it with him.
