I guess I don't really know what I want, I just think both the 15 and 25 look like pretty awesome blades.

I had a Randall that I gave to a buddy nigh on 35 years ago. He still uses it when he camps. It is either a 3 or a 5. Now all I have is a Model 1 with rosewood handles, 7 inch blade.

I bought the first one out of the case at their shop in the orchard. For the second I called down and asked what was in the case and picked the model 1. Way too impatient to order and wait.

Makes me want to order a 25. And I have 5 years to save the cash!

That's crazy. I know what I'm doing while I work on some leather work tonight... the hunt for more Ross Allen videos is on.

Thats about perfect. You dont see many 5-4's.

Really nice knife. Being 4" and the stag handle, it looks a lot like the model 8 which is their bird and trout model. Very handy.

Is there a compass in the butt? Thats a common add on.

No compass, I actually got this one from a vendor around 1997. It is the only one I Did not order. I do not like the brass guard but have and still carry it a lot. I see you are still ordering them. I assume they are not as valuable as they once were?

They are just as valuable as ever. At least in the sense that they are never worth less than their retail cost at the time it was purchased. The waiting time is about 5 years right now so of course any knife available for sale immediately has a time premium built into it.

For example, your knife currently costs $370 and takes 5 years to get it. You could probably sell yours for $300 or so, maybe more. Not sure how well it cleans up and what the sheath looks like. I'm pretty sure that's more than it cost in 1997, right?

Relatively speaking, I sold many Randall's for double the price I paid, or near it but that was about 8 to 12 years ago. probably paid about $200 for that one.

The market seems to change from time to time as to what is hot at the time. Vietnam ones are always good sellers. There have been a couple of tenite handled ones recently on eBay that went for thousands of dollars. The tactical stuff has had a good run (the 14's, 15's). I think they make decent investments but I think the heyday of them is over. There are hundreds of handmade knife guys now making stuff just as pretty and just as good that is the same price or better and available immediately. Behring Knives for example. That guy's stuff is awesome and in the same genre as Randall. He even does a lot of rehandle work on Randalls.

I hate to see Randalls being collected. I talk to guys at Blade that seem to have hundreds of them and they all sit in drawers.

I despise my tendency to collect stuff. I wanted one of the original Border Patrol models but never found one. My supervisor had purchased one years before and kept it in his file cabinet.
I have the 5 and a 28 and regularly carry them.

You seem to order them regularly. What do you do with them?

I sell them to make money.

I don't collect anything other than money :)
