My thoughts were that the five was too short to effectively split wood. I was wrong. I remembered @bearthedog post with the tables using wood wedges. What if the 5 is the leading edge to a wedge? Well. It works well.
Looks like you had a lot of fun with it! Just be conscious of the wooden wedges becoming weaker while using them to push the 5 through the logs. Definitely a great technique, just takes extra attention in my mind now. I had one snap while using that exact method while trying to hold the wedge at its base and my trigger finger found itself between the 3.5-4" crabapple whole round and the crabapple baton. Resulted in larger finger bone closest to my hand having a spiderweb type fracture. Made for a crappy couple of months and a missed archery season.
You might want to send that one in for warranty, something went seriously wrong during the heat treat Those are some serious stress fractures Good thing you stripped it to expose them
When the 5 came out I wanted one really bad. Through the years I kind of dismissed them. But I'm revisiting the thought of getting one. I haven't worn the new off my Christmas 6 or my Junglas I bought last summer and the ESEE bug has bit me. I think this summer I need a Candiru, Izzy 2 and a 5 added to my 4,6 and Junglas.
