HAHAHA: quote: " I’ve read online some complaints about the powder coat finish. I guess guys get upset when they use their knife and the finish wears off? It hasn’t happened to mine yet, but seems like a natural progression for a tool that actually gets used.
I bought a sweet shovel.. I was digging a trench on my side yard with it.. It worked pretty good but it's all scratched up now. I'll keep it I guess, but going to mention that downside in the review. Home Depot shovel: 3/5 stars.
Decided to strip my 5 without etching (for a few reasons). Gave it a killer 400 grit satin, finished with Mother's Mag. Means that even if it gets all scratched up, forms a patina, rusts, etc, I can always bring this finish back with a sheet of 400 grit and some metal polish. I like being able to maintain a finish, even if it's a nice patina
Thanks! I'm real happy with how it turned out. I didn't etch mine primarily due to it being easier to keep clean without little hiding spots for rust/bacteria to grow in. That said, I think they look great either way.
