Parsing tracks in the snow: a little help, please

    Don't ask me how, but I think this has something to do with shuffling feet in snow.

    Only because the mountains have snow. No other reason. Well, maybe.

    And these planes are dragging their wings in the air.

    I don't know. I need to go to sleep, now.

    If you need snowshoes you are not going deep enough into the forest:)

    During the rut if you get lucky enough to get snow up here that is one of many indicators of buck vs doe tracks. The bucks get all thickened up and chase sent all day and drag feet as a tired energy conservation kind of thing. Size, pointy vs round, toe spread and deepness, point marks, stepping in own tracks vs wider front end tracks on bucks yada de yada....... But these picks are from February. Not the rut. I am going with cold and tired, low food supply time of year, energy conservation from point a to b sounds good.
