So I have a confession....I'm terrified of heights....I get jello-kneed going over high bridges....today was a milestone for me as we rappelled and climbed a local drop in the Little River Gorge called "Weaver"....

At a touch under 190' it was more than double my longest climb and my longest rappel by roughly 40'.....you dropped about 15' over the edge and then you were free hanging all the way to the ground....I felt my knees shaking a bit as I broke the edge but in the end it was an enjoyable experience and I continue to find a greater comfort level on rope.....

Here are a few pics from the ESEE office today.

Definitely makes you think, especially after you go over that lip and look down then look at that tiny rope.

I have to say @shaneadams90 having seen you on the rope I would have never guessed you were scared of heights, but good for you for breaking that edge. Not sure I could have done that one, @Patrick Rollins would have had to push me.

Y'all are facing the wrong way on that rope....are you not suppose to go over face first and watch the ground rise up to meet you ??

That 16mm is a LOT to carry!.....That 8 or 8.3mm is way lighter and super strong...I'm sure @Jeff Randall and give you the numbers but it's super strong!

I always slid down 10 or 12, we used 12 on our training courses around large water towers (as people got upset when we were sliding past their office windows - I did always wave :D ).

    i hear you on weight!

but i find the 8mm lines too thin in the hand, and my ascenders do not like the thin ropes......less material to grab , i have had slips

I also like that the 16 mm ropes tend to NOT blow away sideways or away from the cliffs in high winds, unlike lighter thinner ropes.

Also i tend to rappel solo, so all the gear is bombproof. Steel rescue tri locking carabiners, big stainless rappel rescue rack with stainless U bars), etc
