Spent the weekend up exploring Warwoman WMA. I frequent this area a lot but it’s such a large expanse there’s always somewhere new to check out. Our original plan was to hike up Sarah’s Creek as far as we could. But there was a very large tree down in the first crossing that prevented us from goin that way. So we back tracked and headed one ridge over to find a site to camp. The next morning we set off up an old logging road that has been closed to vehicles for some time. The hog sign was everywhere and we were hopeful one would present itself but it never happened. We did find a bear tree at the top that I will definitely be checking on later in the year. It was about a 3 hour hike one way so hopefully that will deter other hunters from going after this bear(s).
Sounds like a good trip. I've only been there once to do some fishing. That weekend was some of the most impressive rain I've ever experienced.
Nice, looks like a good weekend! I need to get up that way to do some exploring. Is camping allowed anywhere, or in designated spots only?
It’s national forest so you can camp anywhere. There are some pay sites at the bottom of Sarah’s Creek road. Good for family camping with a fire ring/picnic table. Plus there are a couple of restrooms. It’s just the toilets with a big hole in the ground though.
