Ha! I so agree about character building. As in many trips, I went seeking a relaxing vacation, but mother nature turned it into a learning experience. :D

Having said that, during all the rain, I spent a lot of time lounging in the hammock. :)

OK, a few more images from the last trip before bed after a day that began before dawn
(crippling storm that left over 1M in the NE w/o electricity was approaching, still feel like I'm in camp).

What I saw from the hammock via the cam on the first morning. Zoomed about 40X.

View toward the lake from the hammock, morning 1.

A digitally modified view of the forest -- a fine example of the north woods -- looking uphill.
The camera did the mod when I pressed that little button.

A tree after the same button.

The air temp in early morning in northern Maine in late October. What's wrong with this picture?

Little life 1: lichens on wood.

Little life 2: a single moss plant held with gloved fingers.

Little life 3: more moss shot from the hammock -- hey, it was f*c*i*g raining all day. :(

    More moss.JPG

An unusual shelf-fungus: gray with a consistency of rubber after 5" of rain. The body snatchers are here.

A look of contentment while lying in the hammock
on the third morning of three days that saw 5" of rain.

Hey, WTF, at least I was warm and dry.

Hey, Bushie (aka @Bushman5 ) -- above is my latest report.

This trip was indeed epic, at least for me: 5" of rain in 3 days with big winds.
