I have several but the one I use the most is a Bushcraft Black... comfortable, strong and easy to maintain.
I have many but my favorites are the bushcradt black, Kansbol and Eldris. The black is a strong contender for my favorite. The Kansbol works great even with the funny grind. The Eldris rides in my EDC pack. It's not used much but highly capable.
I had a blue one and a red one but the dog chewed up the handles. Not sure how she managed to avoid cutting herself. That was about 15 years ago and ive never replaced em.
Someone enlighten me here. I've looked through a lot of them on the web. And if I were to base an opinion on price and appearance I would have to guess they are regular P.O.S's So whats the attraction. Are they made of great steel with a craptacular handle to put them at that price point or are they just all around OK for the price and great to use harder than one normally would use a expensive knife? I've been very curious about this.
Only way to know for sure is buy one... great steel, with a great handle, crappy sheath. Insane wood cutters. Razor sharp. Best knife deal out there. Buy a companion, thank me later.
I have a couple of companions. I use them every now and then. Great steel, nice handles and the hollow grind cuts really well.
2nd Mora companion; is a great tool. Most dedicated Mora users are probably far to busy out in the woods using their knives than to be able to respond to you.
Im not saying I personally have a big love for moras but the guys i know that do, spend a lot more time doing what I wish I was doing.
I find that my mora's are great "complimentary" blades to a fancier, tougher primary... that end up being used a lot of the time more then the primary... just because they work great, are cheap, easy to sharpen etc.
Thanks. At the time I just did it for a size reference. Looking at the picture later, I was glad I took it.
I used to hate Mora factory sheaths, but they have grown on me. The Companion and Craftline sheaths do clip on and off quickly and secure, and I’ve never broken one. I’ve never had a knife come out by accident with one, and they allow room for a wet knife to dry and keep any debris / plastic away from the blade edge. They’re bulky, but I don’t worry much now that a mora sheath will work. I’ve found that Mora does a more reliable heat treat to their carbon blades - except the Garberg. I’ve had a few slightly warped stainless mora blades. Maybe it’s easier to work & harden that 3.2mm chunk of steel. But I have lots of Moras and will always have a few around.
