So I have been developing a modular chest rig. That can be worn in most any environment for keeping your gear at the ready. All while not hindering your movement and being comfortable while wearing a pack or not. I am currently in the testing stages of this but was looking for ideas of where and how this could be tested and the different ways it could be setup. I have one out with Murphy to test while rucking Rick Stowe will be getting one for long hikes to his favorite fishing holes setup to hold fishing supplies. @DYSPHORIC JOY will be getting one to run thru the mountains. But the sky is the limit. Let me know what you think and your ideas. 20180318_135922.jpg 20180320_171531.jpg 14595.jpeg 20180314_125734.jpg

I like the idea a a lot. I wished the PMI chest roller that we use for rope work was modular so you could unclip the rollers when not needed, then clip a HPG chest pouch to the plate or combos like you are showing. Then you only have to stay in one harness for SAR, hiking in, rope work, whatever. The PMI harness is rat comfortable and the plate's weight is negligible but the rollers just get in the way until they're needed. Anyway, you've got a sound idea in my opinion.

Not my photo. Stole it from a quick google search.

This looks extremely useful, like a kit bag for open carry.

I know absolutely nothing about rope work... With that said, do the rollers support any amount of body weight or is it more of a guide to keep the rope in place? The plate looks like the holes could mount to Allen's rig if it were detached from it's own harness. Would the kydex be strong enough to hold the roller plate? Could something be added to the kydex rig to strengthen it? Sorry if these questions are silly....

What does the fishing rig look like? Sounds like It would be handy for wading or when climbing down the rocks on breaker walls.

I kind of like this a LOT. Would be super useful for carrying while riding horses. Sitting in a saddle doesn't really lend itself too well for a hip mounted holster.

If it is non load bearing I could use a thicker kydex to beef up the strength.

Finished this one up today going to my friend in Tennessee who hikes the Appalachian trail on a regular basis he is going to put a one of my knife sheaths I have made for him on it. Along with his esee pouch and a plight s1 baton and I made a bic lighter holder for him as well. The bottom pic is after I took my esee pouch off so I could send him the chest rig. 14850.jpeg 15077.jpeg

I love how in the 5th post the flashlight can be turned on to light the way in front of you. Some other attachments that come to mind if I were gonna wear it on a bushcraft outing:
    Multitool or sak
Go Pro attachment (if I had a Go Pro lol)
    Esee standard fire kit
    Maybe a retractable survival whistle

Another way it could be mounted is as a baldric style platform to be worn on the hip

Oh wow!! This has mega potential.

I could see myself drilling holes in a small pelican box and using rubber washers between the box and chest rig.

Pelican box for firekit/survival kit , add a knife and flashlight.....

If your looking for a Canadian tester I would be happy to try all sorts of setups on it

Are you worried about the integrity of the kydex? I’ve had some fire steel loops crack before so was a little put off (not from you).

    or

attach a fly box to it and a spool of leader material and surgical clamps for flyfishing.
