here is another idea for ya Hammer

continuing to push the L.R.R.P.R. webbing past the bleeding edge......added a CHEST light to the cross strap. I was inspired by the light on the armor of IronMan, as well as the light on the Fifth Element police uniforms

I took my FENIX HP15 and removed the straps from the battery case and headlamp. Mounted the battery case on the shoulder strap of the L.R.R.P.R. rig, weaving 1" velcro strap thru the molle/pals grid and then thru the battery case.



the headlamp fit perfectly on the 1" wide cross strap, and since its a headlamp, it swivels up and down. It allows me to read maps at night, or flood the ground (with no shadows) in front of my feet and beyond.



better photo with the cable neatly managed. I also added a THYRM CELLVAULT XL to carry 2 pare 18650 li-ions plus 2 CR123 primaries.




note the velcro securing strap for the THYRM, it goes under the THYRM clip in between the molle webbing, but also thru the now unused headlamp strap slot on the battery case.


light stays in place when the cross strap is unbuckled.



easy to read maps or whatever



will get some pics of it in use at night.

also toying with the idea of two shoulder strap mounted lights, on height extendable arms, using the RIGID Ignite series lights (tiny 1" x 1" little 1000 lumen flood lights). These would allow for scene lighting for photography, or for flooding the forest in front of me with light.

 

got my two micro pouches & a large lower back pouch from TYR Tactical today.


one micro pouch holds RITR notebook, pencil, compass, the other on the other side holds the Exotac XL match case, Firesteel and Titanlighter.

new TYR Tactical lower roll pouch. The back is stiffened with an insert and once the pouch is attached it really firms up the entire load bearing rig and prevents the pouches from wobbling.


also mounted the Fenix HP30R remote battery case on the SORD Webbing belt (had one vertical PALS row left). Made a shockcord attachment to prevent the battery case from ever dislodging out.




shock cord is weaved thru the vertical PALS webbing and secured to the battery case bolt.

So while the L.R.R.P.R. webbing is very comfortable and hauls a crap ton of gear and survival kit ........I wanted an ultralight webbing rig for short dayhikes/scouting trips etc. Just the barebones of gear....2 canteens, spare socks/mittens, foot powder, firestarting kit, TP, knife, powerbars , poncho etc.

took one of my Direct Action Mosquito molle belts and Yoke and built a sub 5lb (still need to weigh it for exact weight ) Scout Rig. No frills, no cooking gear, etc. Just barebones.


Direct Action Mosquito molle belt/yoke, 2 x DA canteen pouches, 2 x Nalgene Oasis canteens & 1 SS GI cup, 1 X Eberlestock molle pouch (for food), 1 Mayflower Jungle butt pack (holds socks, mittens, TP, Exotac matchcase, water purification tabs, foot powder, Emergency mylar tarp, heavy duty, and a poncho or light jacket. Knife as i see fit - could be the Recondo, could be the C.R. Green Beret, could be the Kabar Dogshead, Esee 6 etc

 

BUMP this is a great thread with good pictures !! Wouldn't have ever been running this setup if @Bushman5 didn't spend years and thousands trying out all this crap first. I nailed my rig first try with help of his experience pointing me in the right direction. I still set it up to my personal preference but as I said HEAVILY GUIDED AND INFLUENCED by listening to and seeing bushys gear in action.

 

I played with some existing gear and made a makeshift lbe setup but its All about balance and distribution and a slim profile when your bushwacking here. I went with all velocity systems mayflower jungle kit line that uses lightweight water shedding ultra comp laminate material as previously stated. Helium whisper attachment is a gamechanger too from the center out symmetrical on either side I run a buttpack , gp pouch , cantene pouch and ammo pouch I use as utility storage for go to and quick access items

 

Thousands.... yeah that's a slight understatement

thousands...... . Yea that's an understatement. GBP , USD, etc exchange rate to CAD , astronomical shipping costs, big Customs fees / duties on entry to Canada etc.

A pouch that might be $30 in the USA can rapidly add up to over $125 + CAD once it hits the border.

let's just say I've bought a LOT of rucks, load bearing webbing belts, harnesses, and pouches over the last 6 plus years to test out.
I'm staring at 6 x 150 liter totes full of webbing , pouches etc , worth about $6000 CAD.

we get screwed up here with the very anemic Canadian dollar value, plus high customs fees , shipper fees, shipping costs, etc

 

I've been looking back thru this thread at the first few generations of webbing I built up from off the shelf makers. God those rigs were hideous, heavy, and compared to my current rigs - uncomfortable.

 

Gen 25 (? I think) Scout Rig - my smallest lightest rig yet, 1 lb when empty, thanks to bleeding edge Ultracomp fabrics, carbon fiber flexi stabilizers on the ultra thin webbing pad, ultralight hollow foam on the padding.

Belt webbing is a BlueForceGear BELTMinus V3, with Velocity Systems ultralight jungle harness.

Main rear pouch is a BlueForceGear large utility pouch, with 2 x Velsys canteen pouches (one per side). Right front pouch is a Templar Gear with front laser cut Molle slots, it holds cold, ready to eat food). Left front pouch is a VelSys radio / battery pouch (holds survival gear tin, and bear spray).

total loadout weight (IFAK, TP, xl emergency tarp, 2 canteens with water, 1 steel canteen cup, knife, bear spray, survival items in tin, compass, food , whistle - is around 4 lbs at most - this scout rig is significantly lighter / smaller / more compact than my larger patrol rig webbing. Just imagine how much more weight could be dropped if the pouches were sewn on.

I'm at roughly 10lbs fully loaded without the 2+qt water capacity filled. I'll post a loadout later

 

Finally working on the First Spear J.O.K.E.R. Rig . Starting with OV Innovations TEETER POUCH - weighs just 21 grams . The plastic bag it came in was heavier.

interesting canteen pouch. Very minimalist , bleeding edge ultralight, and secure. It does however take up 4 Molle columns in its mounting... May be an issue if your rig is tight on space.

In the age before now,back when Esee had a sub on BF and the Izula was the greatest thing since sliced bread I built a rig from Eagle pouches and a hunter’s tree stand harness. With 2 quarts of water, Ti messware, tarp, hammock, fak, cutlery and a (rationed out) 3 day food supply…about 13-15 lbs if my memory is accurate. If I can find a device to scan thru my thumb drives I might have a photo.

Sorry guys, I bulldozed thru 7 data sticks, 1000’s of photos, and they go right up to the edge of that time period and abruptly stop. I think they were on an external drive that literally started smoking one night when powered up.
Log it under “All this technology and it still sucks pond water.”

M2016 Butt Pack (FAK, spare release, back up knife, extra snacks)

HPG GP Medium Pocket (range finder, game calls,)

I just got the harness hooked up last night. I can tell it’s a great addition. Shout out and thanks to @Twoody88 for great ideas about the harness.

 

Time to build a new one
