The tooling leather will need treated also but the remnants are more for like pouchs or clothing. It will rust blades really bad fast. Get some good stain I like water based stain because it is easy clean up, I am very messy lol. And a good sealer to put on after you are finished. You are going to have a bad ass sheath when you are done!!!! The only difference will be staining the leather all the other process will be like you just did. Great job.
Thanks. I got more tools and tooling leather coming. now that I got an idea of what I'm doing it can get serious about it.
I have no doubt you will be there and beyond in no time. Just don't be afraid to try, my trash is full of fails but that's how I learned what works and what does not. It sucks after all the work and it won't work. But you see the mistake and fix it and boom you have it then.
Cheers mate, nothing better than leather I reckon only gets better with age, all the stains and wear are memories. Wouldn't mind seeing a picture or 2 when you get them back.
Hadn't checked in for a while, some awesome stuff going on. Got a few more finished up or almost there recently. Made this sheath for a knife I made for a guy at work. Got the knife to him just in time for deer season and he said it zipped through the whole process. Considering it was driveway-heat-treated 1084 that made me pretty happy. I thought the pebbled backgrounding stamp made a cool effect on the leather. This one's for a Survive! 4.7. I tried doing pebbling background below the roots and regular backgrounding above. Another for a Survive! 4.7. Dragons are cheesy but I think this one looked much better than the previous one. The tree in the leaf design was a lot more complicated and took a lot more time to draw up and get onto the leather but I think this works much better. Hanging out next to each other. Can't have too many GSO4.7's. Just finished the dangler strap for this CPK Field Knife sheath tonight. I like the oddly bordered basketweaving quite a lot. Glued this thing together with the welt tonight. For a Survive! 5.1.
Tops bob sheath with tin and zippo pouches i just finished don't know what color i want it yet but I'll disassemble and dye when I figure it out
The first theee sheaths I ever made from a few years back. The middle one wasn't quite finished yet when the photo was taken...
