I just ordered a Laser Strike and I'm pumped. It's the first ESEE knife I was really turned on by but never got one. Finally pulled the trigger!

Busted down a neighbor's tree last night for nice little fire. Just the LS and a Corona folding saw made short work of a 7'+ fir.

I really have to strip that goofy coating off my LS. It looks so much better without it. That, plus make sure the spine has a 90 degree edge.

Just got a used desert tan LS with TKC scales on it and man is it nice. Today I stripped the paint off of it and next week I'll be finishing up the other mods to it and then post a pic or two. It's a great wood clobberin' blade.

Does anyone else feel like it's too thick behind the edge or something? I love it and I have the scars to prove it's a sharp beast, but I just can't seem to get too precise with it like I see a lot of y'all doing, especially with shavings and feathersticks. Equally likely my noobishness is a factor.

Hmmmm. You could thin that area out a bit at the cost of strength. How much you gain versus how much you lose is a pure guess. After seeing what James Gibson does to his knives Ive adopted his method. Makes for some scary sharp blades and lowers the angle enough behind the edge that you can skim off a layer of wood. Probably convexing the edge if i had to call it something. Check out the esee video starring him for details.

I'll look into it. I may or may not implement just because I tend to use my LS in places where a hatchet or axe may not be feasible due to it glancing off a bad hit (camping with my little cousins underfoot- easier to keep them away if I just baton). I figured if I couldn't find a solution I'll probably have a mora handy anyhow. :)

I use a two knife system as well. One slicer and another multipurpose knife. Sometimes. Sometimes its a four knife system. Sometimes its a four knife system with a saw and an axe. :)
