I think the lever action .410 would be a good gun for a 12 year old's birthday. Start at 20:00 to see the shotguns
Thanks EXPAT. It will be a while before my son turns 12 but would welcome the gift. I have told the story before but will again...Henry used to offer a special medallion engraved for some of the youth rifles. It was discontinued many years ago. I had really wanted to get my son one for his 3rd birthday so I called Henry and explained the situation. Anthony called me back a few days later and located what I needed even though it was not something that was normally done. We talked guns, knives, and TN. That particular year was a rough one. This positive interaction was something I will never forget and one of the reasons I support Henry Rifles.
I own 2 Henry's, a Golden Boy in .357 and their lever action .22 carbine. The .357 with a custom leather scabbard I had made for it. This rifle is a hell of a lot of fun to shoot. Of course it handles .38 sp as well.
@Expat So you're not a fan of this for a 12 year old's birthday? @DYSPHORIC JOY I had no idea Henry made an all weather model. Part of me is intrigued, but part of me prefers the classic wood finish. I know, looks aren't a reason to buy a firearm...
I knew that video would make it back to the new forum. I love the classic finish, both the gun and the Barbie, but I am not much of a collector. All weather guns help me with my laziness when it comes to external maintenance.
I've told myself that since I got my H&R 45-70 single shot! This Henry all weather may become competition with the Marlin 1895SBL for my next long gun! Those single shot Henry rifles will sell huge in Louisiana and Mississippi for use during primitive rifle/muzzleloader season for deer!
My dad started me off hunting with a single shot .410 when I was around 7. It didn't take long at all for him to move me up to a 20 gauge though because of the cheaper shells. He had a lever action .44 mag that I fell in love with, after I shot the bottom out of one of those old moose cups you used to get at Hardees, even though the recoil brought a tear to my eye.
