I got my very first handgun back home today (had been at my brother's for a few years). Manufactured in 11/86 and purchased in 6/87.
……Gen1 !!!! Out of interest does it have a metal plate with the SN on the frame ? What is the SN letter prefix. My Gen1 was “BN8**”.
It does. I'll snap a pic when I can later. The serial number is BC9xx. The date code on the barrel is VTH which would be 11/86 for manufacture.
Interesting. That is one of the earliest I have seen with the plate on the frame. My BN prefix didn’t have that (SN on the slide and barrel was sufficient here at the time).
Family Member recently passed, leaving me his firearms. .40 cal Glock, not shown. Walther PPKS. Colt Police .38 Special, very old. S&W Lew Horton Model 624 44.
A few more I'm cleaning up from Brother in Law. Ruger 20 gauge O/U is mint. M1 I'm not sure about the age or manufacturer. SN only. The .22 Remington must have been a squirrel getter! Not shown. LC Smith double field grade 12. Pretty sweet. Would be great over a fireplace.
Just did this with a charger chassis and jmac style side folder. all the old school folders are heavy and harder to find This is nice and light and didnt break the bank to put it together. Plus i can run a hogue ar grip
I have a couple S&W Gen 1 9mm I like. Four inch 9/40 and a 5 inch 9mm Pro. Went to our local Range and tried out a second generation 380 auto Bodyguard 2.0. I liked it so well I purchased one. The G1s weren't impressive, but the 2.o is nice. There's some better performing 380 ACP ammo these days that pass the FBI gelatin protocol penetration tests. 13-16 inches x 1/2 inch. 90 grain. 980 fps. Weighs 9.8 ounces. Easy to conceal 10 or 12 round magazines. I need to pick up some Federal HST yet which purportedly performs slightly better. Handgun Self-Defense Ammunition - Ballistic Testing Data
Old pic a mate dropped on TardBook…., that’s my Mod70 .375H&H with an Asiatic Buffalo (one of about 40 that year) taken up in the wild wild NT here in 1985 …. Same rifle I hunt Africa with in 2015….
Picked up a Ruger 22/45 Lite. Shoots good. Ordered a fiber optic front site. The black sights were hard to make out against black steel. Plus pretty quiet with a Can.
