    everyone should carry DEX4 (Glucose tablets). The tube is small enough to tuck away in a pocket or pack or kit. Could save the life of a person showing signs of hypoglycemic attack. The stuff is CHEAP. $10 or so buys you 3 - 4 tubes, enough to scatter in your gear and vehicle.

    On a group hike last year one of the hikers started slurring her words, sweating, seemed confused. Hike leader assessed her and she had apparently not eaten at all the night before or the morning of the hike (she was "fasting"). We gave her Dex and brought her back to the trail head to take her to hospital for observation. Out of the ten hikers, 5 of us had Dex in our packs!

    it's a must have! i carry the gel also in case someone can't chew. don't confuse hyper and hypo!
