Oh, I can just imagine the coupons. I'm picturing like a dozen of us fireman carrying sheep and bags of ESEE 5s.

Bring sally up! Bring sally down!

Im stoked about being reduced to a pile of biscuits and gravy goo again by a goruck.

Bryan2 was brutal in the welcome party. That got in my head. Sally was a low point for me mentally. Glad you got a boost from it.

    It was brutal.

I was just happy to not be on the litter carry anymore.

Seriously considering doing a Light next Spring. There's events in Richmond and DC.

However - my knees are in rough shape. Yeah, dropping forty pounds would probably fix most of that, but I did tear the meniscus in one almost ten years ago. I ordered a sandbag and ruck plate this weekend to start the training program. I can run 5k in about 40 minutes (some walking) and still function. That's actually getting easier. How rough is the challenge? Am I signing up for orthopedic surgery?

Hard to say. See how the training goes and how you feel. For me the mog mile challenge took all that i had. Id say train and if its this year or next year that you feel more confident then go for it.

I'm not the GR expert some of the others are here but from my experience, there wasn't a lot of stress on the knees.

My suggestion is that if you lose 40 lbs, and you ruck with 35, it's like not rucking with anything :)

Thanks. So long as there aren't marathon sessions of jumping jacks, sounds like I'll be OK.

I guess every one is different but mine was more slow and heavy than fast and light.

Various exercises you might encounter could included: four count jumping jacks x 25, pt test of push ups and sit ups, bear crawls, crab walks, wheel barrows, fireman carries, squats, squats with pack about head, mt climbers, eight count body builders, burpees, four count flutter kicks, v holds with pack, duck walks with pack over head, run one mile with pack in -20 minutes, one minute front leaning rest; can't think of any others at this moment.
Have done one event with a three hour welcome party, while another only had thirty minutes.
Really depends upon cadre, and if it is a special event.

I pulled the trigger on a Light in April. Still working up to completing week one of the six week training plan. My knees are getting stronger, but lunges SUCK.

Lunges do suck and that week one is full of leg work.

I didn't get in on the 40% off events because I just didn't see one that I wanted to do bad enough, although I would like to do the NYC 9/11 HTL or the Normandy one. Anyway, my next events are coming up in about 2 weeks....a back to back Tough and Light in ATL. Anybody from here going to be there?

Good luck on the TL. Will this be your first combo? The TL is the precursor to the Heavy.
I have a friend who will be doing the ATL light. His name is Aaron H.
Last year GR did a Christmas day sale of 50% any event. Maybe they will run that again this year.

This will be my second combo, the first was the Chattanooga Memorial this summer. I'm sure I'll find a reason to sign up for another one at some point this coming year.

If B2 is there then I'm going to go ahead and kick myself in the balls as soon as I see him so I can get it over with. This was one of those "I'll sign up 6 months in advance so I know I'll be in shape" events.....and I'm not.
