Sold my Hound Dog XM-L2 with the MD4 body and replaced it with a 18650 Hound dog. The neutral tint is nice and warm and I love that I can just throw it in a coat pocket. I ran it for about an hour at full output the other day, and could still hold it comfortably in my hand. It got pretty warm, but not blazing hot like some of my smaller Fenix lights do.

Anyone here order the new Surefire Tactician? It's the first Surefire I've been tempted by since the 6P. Think I might order one once someone gets them back in stock.

I'm still using my 4Sevens Quark 123, plus a couple others, one larger, one smaller.

All are substantially better than a lit match. :)

Always wanted to try a foursevens, but it seems my chance is gone. They started going for top dollar since the announcement of closure.

My new winter EDC. The Surefire G2 has an M61NLL drop-in and the 16650 MDC body has an E2 head (Malkoff). The G2 covers 95% of my needs, and is nice to handle in the cold, and the MDC is for when I want something a little more powerful. Both running primaries since we're getting sub-zero temps here.

Closure? Oh, wow, that's news to me. Sorry to hear it. I've long been a fan -- especially this Quark 123 (going on 8 - 9 years with it). Guess I'll have to look around at what's going to replace it when it goes, cause I'm not paying top dollar for a flashlight. Knife? Axe? Sure. But not a flashlight.

Seems I wasn't 100% correct. David (the owner) sheds some light (pun intended) on the whole ordeal at about 3:00 into this video.

I so agree. That's a treasure, @Zeek. Have any idea of an approximate manufacture time?

Wow. Guess I need to read up on flashlight history. I confess, I don't even know how long they've been produced.

    WWI? Nineteenth century?

I almost can't imagine life without mine, especially in the wild. <small shiver at the thought>

Speaking of old tech. Here is a carbide bicycle light. Circa 1899. Hine Watt Mfg Co. Chicago, IL.
This technology was used on carriage lights, miners hats/helmets, and hand carried devices.

Just ordered a replica of the penlight that was used for the Apollo missions. Apparently Jim Lovell praised this light, for obvious reasons.

Should have in in about a week.
