    I'll post mine here a bit later. I'm waiting for #5.
    Could be here tomorrow or the next day.
    Might be next week, though.

    Two of my favs arrived today, from different sources.
    {They changed everything for me; holy edge:
    I didn't know they could be so sharp.}

    For now, just this: 3 of 5 have very different niches.
    Two fit the same niche -- bushcraft -- but in different ways.

    While we wait, what are your five easy pieces? Five fav blades?
    {ETA: And please give us a sense of why for each. Use? Quality? Sentiment?
    And for uncommon models, please tell us a bit about it; pics are great.}

    Please, don't post ten and claim, "I can't do just five!"

    Yes, you can. Think.

    You can post less than five.

    But more than five? I'll just ignore those posts.

    What say you?

    Additional rule.

    It's fine to post 6 - 10.
    But after posting 1 - 5.

    How's that?

    Rule 3.

    Music is not only ok,
    but desirable.

    That is, if you have a music video that seems to
    .. describe, complement, illustrate ... your top 5,
    then by all means, post it here.

    I will .. a bit later . . .

    I will have to wait till after Christmas to give my honest 5 but as of right now....

    1.Any one of my gransfors but I suppose I will say my mini to stay true to a list. It really is a jack of all trades, blurring the line between belt knife and hatchet and being only 11oz it rarely gets left home. And despite its size I have yet to run into a reasonable task it can't take on with a bit of thinking put into it

    2.Paramilitary 2 is the most common knife found in my pocket. It slices, dices, stays sharp forever, comfortable as heck and takes an edge like few of my knives. There is a reason I have 2

    3.Zt 0560 sold my first and forever regretted it, and now being out of production I'm not taking any chances of having to find a third on the secondary market. There's just something awesome about a big knife clipped in your pocket

    4.Sykco 311 though I could use another sheath it has a great handle you could use it all day and I don't think I could mess up this knife if I wanted to. Also it rides nicely in a pocket for such a comfortable fixed blade

    5.Blue Victorinox farmer nothing overly special about it but is is a great steak knife, incredibly functional and one of these is always in my pocket regardless of what else is on me

    The order of these change daily but today this is it

    1. Ka bar 1217 Full size straight edge. It is what I carried in the Infantry. I do not have it anymore. Nor would it be my first choice for the things I need a knife for. Still my favorite.
    2. Sager chemical axe. My first axe restoration.
    3. Benchmade Bushcrafter. This knife slices like a razor blade and holds an edge for a long time.
    4. Esee Izula. A fixed blade for my pocket.
    5. Victorinox electrician. The first knife I ever bought. I no longer have this one either.

    1. Randall 25. Given to me by Jeff. Not only has it turned out to be the best knife for everything I need: gutting, skinning and butchering deer, battening wood for fire prep and just a general all around woods task knife, but Jeff gave it to me, which makes it all the more special. It was about 10 or so years ago. It was my first Randall. I'll never get rid of it.

    Since you wanted music:

    2. SAK Pioneer. Purchased in 1988 with my grandfather at a defunct sporting goods store in Exton, PA called I. Goldberg. I carried it every day for years and years. In my college days, it opened every can of ravioli and every other junk food I ate. I still have it but it is so sentimental now, I don't want to risk carrying it.

    3. RC-3. Perfect size knife. I've used it on several continents. I generally carry it IWB.

    4. GB Small Forest Axe. Wife and kids gave it to me one Christmas and it gets used a lot. These days, mostly for prepping firewood for Mrs. Expat's fireplace that has to run generally non-stop. (She's from latin america and gets hypothermia when the mercury dips below 85 degrees.

    5. New, blue SAK Farmer. It's new so there's not much sentimental value to it but it replaced my Pioneer as an EDC.

    @Expat, great song

    Knives
    Zt0909
    Custom nessmuk
    Sebenza insingo
    Fiddleback 12" machete
    Gransfors bruks wildlife hatchet

    Edit for explanation. The. 0909 is a beast. Solid heavy duty knife for when you need a serious blade, but a folder is more convenient. The sebenza for the simple fact that it's just a top notch knife. But it's not as heavy duty as the zt so it sees more typical edc. The wildlife hatchet and the fiddleback for the same reasons. They're the smaller version of bigger tools. And quite frankly, smaller works for me 99% of the time, and it's easier to pack/carry. And the custom muk is one of those knives I bought simply because it was a good deal on a no frills user, but wound up being a great knife. Handle fills the hand nicely and is extra long. Some might not like that, but I like being able to position my hand higher or lower on the handle depending on how I'm using it. I'll post pics when I'm home.

    Spyderco PM2 - go-to folder I carry most every day, light weight, durable, holds a great edge
    Large Sebenza - dress folder
    RC4 - given to me by Jeff in Peru a few years ago, my bomb-proof survival knife I take most everywhere I work/travel
    Helle Nying - great ergos, traditional, love the scandi
    GB Small Forest Axe - great all purpose axe, also goes with me in my pack most everywhere I work/travel

    This is starting off nicely. Thanks to all so far. (and for the music! will listen to all.)

    I echo KS on this point.

    Me, too. That's half the fun of these kind of threads (plus I inevitably learn about knives I never heard about.) I should have specified that in the OP (I think I'll edit to add that). I'll do it when I post my five when my (predicted) fifth fav arrives.

    Just added this to my OP: "{ETA: And please give us a sense of why for each. Use? Quality? Sentiment? And for uncommon models, please tell us a bit about it; pics are great.}

    Its hard to love and respect a knife until you truly use it. I own a lot of knives I "love" but never used. So my 5 favorite knives that have taken my abuse are:

    Mora Bushcraft Black (used and abused for several years now on every outing.)
    Ontario SP-8 (used to de-limb and prosscess more firewood than a lumber yard.)
    S.A.K. Farmer Alox (perfect complement to the above 2, mostly food prep and light duty use.)
    Spyderco Native 5 (excellent all around EDC.)
    Case Sodbuster Jr. (my EDC for many many years.)

    I gotta get in on this, even if I get the burn for my choices. :)
    #1. RB3' serial #1764. A gift from my beloved that I abuse regularly. Use tells you this was designed by masters at their craft.
    #2. Cold Steel Kukri machete. Started using this design about 20 years ago, familiarity lets it be the best one tool option of machete/knife I have. Mine you can shave with, and 42blades can hook you up with one for less than $50.
    #3. Ontario Rat1 folder. It's an edc, used and abused, but a few swipes on a dmt and its ready for its next job.
    #4. Mora Companion HD. This is the be all to end all in affordable "bushcraft" knives IMHO. I like the handle on it better than the Mora Black. (Sorry brother Stone. :D )
    5#. Leatherman Wave. Not really a knife but does have accessible blades you can actually cut things with. So common you can carry it almost anywhere except an airport. Scissors, diamond coated file, hardened wire cutters and pliers? What more could you want in a belt carried toolbox?
