IMG_1147.JPG IMG_1151.JPG Maybe not evil black but devilishly gray. Top is a 6.5 Creedmoor. Waiting on a suppressor.

The laminate stock is a 338 Lapua; scoped and shot but no real break in or testing. 338 is rather daunting cost wise.

Have any of you a Grendel in the AR platform?

I was talked out of one but the ballistics still fascinate me to no end.

I picked up a practically unused Leupold MK IV in trade yesterday. I think I may have slightly **** my pants when we shook on it. The only thing I want for Christmas is another rifle. I'll try to be good for the next 5 months! 2017-06-09 16.23.30.jpg 2017-06-09 16.19.29.jpg

Thanks man. After handling it I would entertain that trade. I got by with a Glock that I bought new for my wife. She took it to the range once and didn't care for it. So it got cleaned and oiled and became a permanent fixture in my gun safe. I think the story was similar for the scope. He bought it, dialed it in on one of his ar's and then it sat in the safe. I've never owned an optic remotely as nice as this so I'm a little floored. I can't wait to show it to the coyotes around here. I think the armadillos are gonna be equally impressed!

Here are my Grendels. Bottom is the night rig 18" w/ Pulsar thermal scope, middle is the daytime rig 18" w/ Swarovski, and the top is the long range rig 24" w/ Vortex. I also have other caliber AR's but these are the rifles that get the field time. I've been shooting Grendel for about 6 years.

Yes. Easy to reload. Not too picky. I'm running 123 gr A-max in the 24" and either 90 gr TNT HP's or 95 gr V-max in the others. I'm mostly shooting coyotes so the smaller, faster projectiles really shine for me. Much more devastating than the A-max.

I had a 6.5 Grendel built on a CZ 527 mini Mauser. I have shot a few groups that were under 1" with the metal ammo, but have not put a lot of time in the gun. Were I outfitting a grandchild with a rifle, that would be the caliber.

My only reason for wanting a larger caliber than a 6.5 is to better hear steel hits at long range.

No rest, that is a serious trio of varmint rifles. Do you also shoot hogs.

I don't have a range that I can shoot steel. I shoot a little paper just to dial in the scopes then all my shooting is live targets. The 24" rifle shoots a ragged hole at 200 yds. The others just under an inch. With the suppressor on I can hear the hits on coyotes. I'd like to have a 6.5 creedmoor but the Grendels meet my needs perfectly. And I never have enough time to give all my rifles the field time they deserve.

It sounds like you would not gain anything with the Creedmoor. I liked it initially because Hornady was selling good ammo at a good price. I was shooting 800 yards and the 120s were great. I want to go to 1200 and want to use 140s. They are a good bit more but I am enamored with the 6.5 in general. Were this 1975, I would have made a 6.5x55 swede small ring Mauser and used it for everything other than stuff I got ammo issued for.

I have not shot coyotes in a while but always used a .223 unless it was incidental to a deer hunt.

The other picture demonstrates my over exposure to the evil black rifle platform. During ammo tests or break in periods one often developed entertaining methods to show off to partners. IMG_0708.JPG IMG_0716.JPG IMG_0725.JPG
