so the large Esee mess tin with the folding handle. It’s always been in my kit holding this that or the other. Here is my question. Does anyone use it for cooking? I’ve been looking for a small frypan to use for hash browns. Thinks are either too small or too shallow. Or if they are decent they have crap handles or don’t pack well. I was messing around last night on YouTube and saw a bunch of mess kit videos then I came across the mess tin vids and thought hmm the Esee one is the same. Just seeing if there are pics or experience out there thanks!

Bushy always has my back! Did you take pics? Yes stainless and a slightly heavier guage would be great!

I have this set, and it works great. Handle folds, and it's stainless steel.

I do like the USGI mess kits. I have a hard time baking in them because they are shallow. I’m looking for frying and baking. If I could find a compact kit that does both halfway decent I would be fantastic!

So the Esee tin has potential. I also have the trangia mess tin but although thicker metal the dimensions make it tricky to use. I did order the French military M52 mess tins. They are very thick, good size and versatile. I also ordered a 40s steel biysckut kit. Both items I haven’t had time to test.

What about the Serbian mess kit? If been looking at these, and thinking of getting one.

    Isn’t the outside plastic?
