Decided to give the DMT's a break today and break out these bad boys again. It's the same result as a Scary Sharp but hand held and works wonders on axes and machetes too. If anyone needs any freehand work done shoot me a PM

Oh, I bet your work looks "expert" compared to my sharpening, lol! that is why I have to use a jig, kit or anything else that "does it" for me:) I'm just glad to know I am not the only one here that loves knives, a sharp edge, but needs help putting an edge on one. I can take a perfectly good, sharp knife, try to polish the edge and come away with a dull edge when I am finished, SMH!

Same thing here! Found that I did better standing and free hand sharpening than sitting.

Not this guy. I'm just a man with some stones that makes knives cut stuff that didn't wanna cut stuff before.

I'm now just using Black compound on my Esee edges. Its a good balance between polished and toothy. Works for me anyway.

An interesting one. Anyone tried it? I've never even heard of this before.

Need some help y'all. I traded for a venom green esee 4 a while ago. I didn't like the green so I stripped it and then did a vinegar patina. With doing that it dulled the edge so I sharpened it with my 800 grit stone. It got it sharp some and would cut paper pretty good but it wasn't shaving sharp so I got a strop. I stropped it quite a bit, and yes lightly, and I got it to shave, but only on one side. So I bought a smith's diamond sharpener, sharpened and stropped again. Now both sides would shave but after doing some test feather sticking and light batoning, it went dull pretty easy. I examined the edge and it was off on one side so I bought the lansky three stone sharpening system, reprofiled it to a matching 20° on each side and now I'm back to my original problem, shaves on one side but not the other, and that's after stropping. There's no rolls and I do the same amount on both sides. What the hell am I doing wrong? Also, how do you get that mirror edge? Mine isn't even close! Thanks

EDIT: I should add that my other knives came out fine and work great after doing the same stripping and patinas. This is the only one giving me problems.

I've never seen or heard of this before. Interesting and a nice trick to store up your sleeve. I suspect it would work better on simple steels such as 1095 than on some of the super steels.
