Unless one of you posts a picture of one of these blades stuck in the head of a large Nile or Esturine Crocodile I am calling ANY of the results flawed and inconclusive.... that is my test of a knife !!

Not a stupid question at all! It's just one of those weird situations where it's a fundamental dynamic with edges that somehow few people are consciously aware of or talk about. Once you know it's a thing, you can very easily adapt different tools so that their edges best match the mix of tasks they'll be used for. Combine that with developing good hand sharpening skills and you can get quite good cutting performance out of even "low end" steels.

Since the zoo wouldn’t let me stab the croc in the head for @Andy the Aussie i decided to try them out on some 2year old frozen apple wood.

The log was almost as wide as the blade so getting a good baton was tough.

    Making good progress

After going through the log it made nice feathers B8ABE84A-F6F5-4EC3-B003-6B94EC5B3A9E.jpeg
Did some stab splitting, not sure what to call it, worked well.

Since it was stuck in the wood I decided to do some more feather sticks.

So after going through frozen applewood all three edged we’re still shaving sharp. I hope to get out tomorrow and play in the woods, but have a sick little girl sick with the flu.

Watch that little girl. We've had pediatric deaths from the flu here.

    good to hear.
flu sucks - even after you're over it, it takes 2-3 weeks to get your energy/endurance back.

I'm just now seeing this, but as some people saw in the "Recent purchases" thread, I bought 20,000lbs of round bales in December lol. Cutting the netting/ties is one of the most edge-dulling things I've been able to do with a knife and it's my go-to test for new EDC knives.
