Smoky from all the Washington and local wildfires happening right now. Vancouver BC has the worst air quality in the world since Friday night.

despite the super Smokey air, lack of visibility, @Twoody88 and I went for a strenuous hike up the debris flow chute on our insanely rugged, steep , violent mountains.

The hiking was more like scrambling , up the debris flow chute rocks and boulders. Short bursts of scrambling followed by rest, water breaks and snacks. This continued for several hours until we had climbed just 500' up from the debris flow basin barrier. Extreme physical exertion in 25 deg C heat plus extremely Smokey poor air quality.

we had a visit from Eagle and Raven , majestic giant birds. Good omens for the entire day.

drove up the highway and parked the truck, donned the webbing rig and started wandering up the BC Hydro access road. Used to be accessible by 4x4, now it's got a big trench in the entrance.

the rock faces are "unofficial" but professionally installed (climbing anchors) and are well known in the vertical community.

Found a great Little Rock outcropping overlooking Howe Sound. About 500' up from sea level, and 200' up from the busy Sea To Sky highway. But those views!

Set up my titanium Siege Stove (fits PERFECTLY btw in a small MAGPUL DAKA pouch.....)

I had prepped lunch at home , utilizing my vacuum sealer to make my own MRE (technically ready to eat )

Thank you very much for posting your travels on this very interesting site and person. One question I have is that some of the photos show Bill Robinsons old cabins at Camp Defiance. They show it as a vertical log style construction, what time period is this from?
    Regards,
    Kevin

Do y’all blackberries grow into massive thickets? I’ve started deer and hog hunting right across the Louisiana border from where I think @anrkst6973 black and dewberry thickets are like walls and they have timber rattlers all over. Which are way tastier than I expected

Ok I always wondered if they grew thicker here cause if the warmer climate. Talk about some gnarly sheeit blood trailing deer on your hands and knees into the game tunnels running through those thickets and you start hearing hogs clacking their jaws and running around.

Same, except where I live there’s 1-4ft of water throughout those acres with gators, cottonmouths, and hogs running through it. Where I deer hunting just east of Toledo Bend it’s dry but populated with canebrake rattlers, hogs and occasionally Bushy’s “murder kittens” lol. Nothing a Junglas and a G20 can’t solve.

That gives me an excellent idea. Build a Soviet Union era concrete bunker in the mountains, seal the concrete well , cover with soil, leave a concrete patio and bunker entrance open , let the blackberries cover it completely.

natural cooling, free berries, attracts the bears (free food, skins), hides the home well.
