It looks like nice work. Are you planning to leave the plate bare, or finish it somehow?

probably just shoot some aluminum primer and then some OD paint onto it.

Streamlined the securing straps...re-routed the paracord, and added heavy duty double side Velcro straps x 2. Now it is truly QUICK release, but has incredibly secure retention.

I'd personally paint it something loud if you're in the habit of going out with others. The plate doesn't look exposed enough to make it a flag if you're worried about keeping low key, but at the same time you get the ability to shout at someone else "Grab my tourniquet. It's on my pack, on the red/blue/rainbow plate," and even if they've never seen a TQ before in their life they'd be able to retrieve it. Your mileage may vary.

I'll probably just use red velcro wraps.

2" x 5" is what i used in aluminum. If you don't mind cutting a few pieces of kydex and some GITD liner material......i'll paypal ya some $$ for the shipping and materials. And if its OK with @mtngoat , I'll cover his material and shipping too......

A little CAT TQ staging tip I picked up .....

Peel that white "time" Velcro back and only connect it to one side of the C channel for windlass catch, thereby leaving the C channel open. It's only there to ensure windlass doesn't pop out out of channel, which if TQ is tightened properly it shouldn't do anyways.

That way in the unfortunate event you really need to use it you can apply TQ and drop windlass right into the catch without having to peel back that Velcro first. Removing that Velcro is a fine motor skill which you may lose in an emergency. If that channel is covered you may be unable to remove Velcro to properly secure windlass.

I don't have a CAT TQ, or a way to record a good video.

I'll see if I can get a hold of one and post up a few pics.

I've got at least one old stretcher foot board, which is 1/4" thick bright orange Kydex. I've taken a few little chunks out of it for various projects, but there might be enough there for a few of these... Might have to look into that.

Yes, the video Zeek posted is what I was talking about.

Also make sure when it is staged, that the "loop" is big enough to easily fit over your largest limb (your thigh) without too much room to spare. That way you don't need to "back it off" if it's too small. Which could prove disastrous in an emergency.
