Im with you sir. I need a good bit of normalcy of life nowadays. Mindless carving to make something beautiful is the ticket. Got a couple of spoons and my kuksa to finish.

My kuksa is taking shape. I had a few pieces of scrap so I started working one into a simple spoon. There's still quite a ways to go and this is some stubborn wood to carve by hand. But I'm seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.

Actually, I think it was walnut. Not easy, but it looks nice when finished.

Was using the first kuksa I carved while out this weekend. I’m in the process of another. Motivated to finish it up. CFBBD6A5-D795-4789-A7BB-C6EF5F883F64.jpeg

I took some of my favorites that I've carved and kept for some photos while reorganizing. None of these were knife only, but it's usually just my carving knife and hook knife.

I modified an old Stanley carpenter's hatchet into a nice little carving axe, rehung it and have been enjoying making spoons and kuksas. Here are a few things I've done lately. Nothing super special. PXL_20201107_152319891.jpg PXL_20201113_201100837.jpg

This other spoon was made expressly for my three year old to run around with safely, hence the ball end and chunky build. I was as worried about him breaking it off and shanking me, as him hurting himself lol... Sorry for the double post, couldn't add files to a modified one.

Finished this one up today. Did a little more sanding than usual, but decided not to go too deep with it and leave some tool marks on it. Fun project. D5C44F89-76D2-43B1-A57A-6CE513EA62EB.jpeg Spoon carving is much cheaper and better for you than blood pressure medicine. I give a few away, but still have several bowls and boxes of spoons. Some are finished, some still need work, some didn’t come out the way I envisioned. The joy of spoon carving for me is while carving, you have one thing on your mind. Carving! Watching a stick turn into something that has a purpose is very rewarding. Carve on!

Just finished carving this one for the wife. Her birthday is in a couple days. It's meant to be an 'infinity' sign, as the spiral pattern never ends. I'm about to put finish to it.

Haha thank you. I've been working on it when I have time for a couple weeks. I carved it green using my trusty axe, and free handed the rest over time. I hope she likes it! o_O

Yea man. I was going to report his post and say it was spoon porn and ask to have it taken down. :p Anything I might have posted ain't going to happen now, it would pale in comparison to that. Oh wait, you're a mod. Never mind... :)
