Cabin In The Woods

I'm sure you all remember the little cabin I cleaned up, maintained, and spent a lot of time at. Took Brother Se7en there when he was in town, JoeBSmith as well , got to spend time there with my Father before he passed. Was going to show my friend from Calgary the cabin this past summer too.

First pic was the snowy night I spent there, had my 4 Dietz kerosene lanterns hung inside the cabin, the wood stove hot with dried maple and Douglas fir firewood, a cast iron pot of stew on the stove, ice cold beers in my cooler. Nothing but silence.




Well, sadly that cabin burned down. Some users didn't check the chimney on the roof (it had fallen out due to high winds) and they lit a hot sparky fire in the wood stove. The sparks landed on the very dry mossy cedar shingle roof and you can imagine what happened next.

End of an era. This one kinda hurts, i spent a lot of time (and fuel) driving up there , maintaining it, sleeping in it many times in all seasons. Spent many times sharing it with others, got absolutely incredible memories of my time with friends there. But most of all - I got to spend a weekend there with my Father before he passed. It was absolutely magical, just like when I was a kid where I grew up with him.

Physical objects come and go, but friends and family experiences live on forever.

If you want a hand rebuilding this spring im extending an offer

 

that would be awesome, although I'm thinking of a stealth cabin away from the FSR's . That cabin was right on a main trunk line and prone to partiers.

 

More secluded the better

 

Well that blows. Definitely salvage that stove if you can, such coolness should not be left to rust away.

I was forced to replace my 2012 Samsung with a new “smart” phone…which I’ve broken twice so far.

My buddy and his dog Blue went winter exploring near the Silver Daisy Mine near west Manning Park BC .

Severe flooding from the rain storms late last year washed out the foot bridge on the trail - but we found a way across the river.

 

You guys ever get tired of all that snow?
