The good news for the situation is that there is a Guy / Group working locally to deliver or build as many Tiny Homes or converted sheds as fast as possible.

They delivered their 100th tiny home since the storm today!

When i say these things are nice i mean they are nice! They are insulated, Basic wiring, extra/ normally lofted storage, Partially or fully furnished (depending on the situation) Heated (Gas or Wood stove, some even have electric heat/ Mini split systems)

The guy / his group are really trying to take care of these folks. They are sourcing locally/ spending much needed money money to businesses locally (Not big time chain stores unless absolutely necessary)

So a little bit of good news at-least!

That's awesome! Is there a link to a charity or a go fund me to help them out.

Same here. I only saw a small amount of the impact and am fortunate enough to be in a situation where I was able to help a few people out but, honestly, it keeps me up at night.
A group of friends sent a couple of uhauls up with buddy heaters, fuel, jackets, sleeping bags, etc.
Every time I pass a Lowes, HD, etc and see the little sheds/homes I wonder if a big company like those couldn't just send them all up there to help out. I mean, it probably wouldn't even be a blip on their profits for the quarter and they could write it off I'm sure. It wouldn't take much work to make them warm and safe. And while I do appreciate the folks up there using local businesses to build them, at this point people up your way just need shelter. I don't care where it comes from.

    @Kryptonian @C99c

This is one of his flyers below. If the picture doesn't show up you can look up " Sam Byler " from Williamston, South Carolina on F@cebook. https://www.facebook.com/sam.byler

@C99c I completely agree with you and he does have sheds coming from all over that are pre built or just plain sheds that he finishes out.. What i was trying to say about local is that he is also helping pump much needed cash into the local businesses and trades. Not only did folks lose their homes a lot of folks lost their jobs also as businesses were destroyed. Unemployment has been a joke for most so he has given others the opportunity to work again.

What he and others are doing is great and I mean no disrespect towards it. I just see a lot of the big businesses and organizations not shouldering as much of the burden as they easily could.

I have been really lucky over the years working with Knives...

But tonight i was cleaning a 3d printed gift for Christmas. Like is normal i was CAREFULLY removing the support pieces with a razor blade knife. Freshly replaced, brand new blade..

A piece of PLA broke off , the blade slipped and i somehow sliced my thumb almost the whole length from tip to webbing...

The ER doctor told me he was impressed i had such a clean and deep cut without hitting bone, tendons etc...

Luckily it was my non dominant thumb... But i wont be bending it for a while...

When I was in 3rd grade, I had a science project that my mom was working on. Why my mom was doing my homework in the 3rd grade while I was in bed, I don't understand. I was supposed to build a model of the solar system. It was basically foam balls suspended by string from the lid of a box.

She was cutting a window in the box and talking to my dad on the phone at the same time. My dad was on the road refurbishing water treatment plants. Mom slipped and cut her wrist with the box cutter.

She had to call my grandparents to bring my aunt over and take her to the hospital, while we were asleep.

The teacher said she wouldn't give that assignment again.

    I hope you heal quickly.

How does a pos like Michael Vick get hired to coach young men. He should be in Guantanamo eating cock meat sandwiches for the rest of his life, for what he did to his dogs.

Wood platform 12×24 round top shelter logic frame. Giant canvas tarp. 2x4 framed up the end walls. It does not hold heat! Stove needs to be running for heat. It's been down to -3? Got to stoke the fire every 4 hrs or so when its that cold. It was only supposed to be until we decide where to build on the property. I made the mistake? Of showing the old lady "the snow walkers companion " the authors write about living in their wall tent . Second winter in it. I have a 14x32 building I built in bite sized pieces and have stacked on a hay wagon in a round bale barn, waiting until we decide where to build the road and plant a building. I like to see the seasons on a property before I decide where to build.

have you seen the gravity feed pellet stoves? supposedly burns for 8-10 hours on 20#'s of pellets.
otherwise, I'd be looking at a waste oil burner.

I've seen about everything heating related. I like wood stoves. I have wood. I don't have pellets or waste oil.

I have been tinkering with a used 3d printer i bought just after Helene. Even though i did not have power at my house to run it :)

Ive printed the typical cr@ppy stuff mostly to learn and fiddle with what all the different settings and features do.

Until the last few days! I have started printing replacement knife scales (including SAK scales) pocket storage tubes, currently printing a hand-line handle (Cuban Yoyo type), Scout Neckerchief slides, key chains/ name tags (which made Christmas gifts easy and cheap!)

I realize i am limited by the filaments i can use (only using "non toxic" filaments so i can print in the house" . And my printer only prints really well up to about 3 inches in height.

I plan to NEVER sell anything. . But they will sure make some cool gifts!

Im terrible at remembering pictures but i finally got the correct star/torx bit to install the 3d printed scales on the Ozark Trail "D2 knife". (apparently it is very close in style to the Benchm@de Bugout?)
It has not got much use since install but i like them because i can double the stock scale thickness which make it nicer for my big hands.

I have printed 3 different versions so far. Ill have to get a side by side when i get everything sanded and fitted a little better :)
