Nope. Not the venom or cross contamination of some kind. Even if a person familiar with the meat processing of snakes did slip up, the cooking (heating) would destroy the toxicity factor. My understanding is you would get a foul taste and smell or stomach distress like vomiting but nothing more evil than that.
Not being a medical practitioner but quick research says the issue could be a blockage of blood to the brain either by clot or buildup in the arteries…or a bulging aneurysm that’s pressing on either a vein/artery or a place in the brain to cause this. It’s possible that it has just not been discovered yet but with the stated history of the subject…
It definitely sounds like when a Dr tells you a specialist is needed to further and more throughly examine the issues. .01 cents right?

We’ve got rattlers here, big ones, so I’ve eaten snake but not prepared by me. The unfortunate couple that I’ve had no choice but to end I definitely smelled an acrylic acid like odor from the (ahem) area where the head used to be. I did help skin one and there was a musk to it but not the same. No proof but I assume the acid smell was from the venom sacs.

I have eaten a number of reptiles both here and in Africa..... ;) If it is an Aussie Bitey Snake (vs a Chokey Snake) we always go a couple of inches back from the head for the cooking and all is good. Unlike those benign bitey snakes y'all have ours are the real deal of course... :D :D :D

I'm so glad snakes are a minimal thing here. Aside from the cute little ones sun bathing in the garden

I have a friend who lives in a very new, very nice third story apartment on the river in Chattanooga. She came home to find a large rattlesnake on her balcony recently. She knew it was a rattlesnake because we encountered one on a trail run months back. She was in shock that it could end up where it did. I told her never to be surprised where she sees a snake in the south. They go where they want when they want.

I went through last year and cut down probably 30 or more small trees most under 2-3 inches around my property. (When I bought my house there were trees within 10 feet of 2 sides of the house that were at least 20 feet tall)

I de limbed most of them and left them in neater stacked piles. I have been trying to burn or take them to the yard waste recycling people. So far I have been able to get rid of less then half of the piles.

So today I picked up a wood chipper and have been DESTROYING the wood piles! It’s a bad day to be a dead tree around my house :)

Funny news of the day :)

There is a guy who owns a bunch of property at the top of the Hollar I live in that only uses it for deer hunting.

This guy spends thousands of dollars and days and days of work each year to set up his food plots and stands (enclosed and temperature controlled plus electrical power) . He even pays employees from his company to work on his property when there not busy.

So last deer season he made multiple veiled threats to me and my neighbors about being to loud during deer season. ( On our own property’s 5 + miles out of the city limits) Or hunting “his deer” that “He Feeds” ( If they happen to be on OUR land)

SO the neighbors being giant country redn@cks decided to see what he would actually do.

Today they hoisted one of those Bird/ animal deterring propane “cannons” 25+ feet up a tree into their hunting “platform” (Think wooden deer hunting platform that fits a few camping chairs.)

They apparently have it set up to start “deterring birds” at sunrise for a few hours.

Deer season starts I think in 11 days… We will see how this goes :)

IMO, spend as little or as much money as you want on YOUR property. Just don’t expect me to change what I do on MY property.

It’s sad that it has come to this. But like me they are sick and tired of this guy… I’m staying out of all of it. I’m just sitting back and quietly laughing about the whole thing.

I'd set up like 25 black powder cannons and fire them constantly while he's hunting :D
