    Can’t sleep.

    TPD helicopter circling nearby.

An 11 year old autistic girl wandered into the woods near her home today after getting off the school bus.

Huge effort underway, three K-9 units and multiple local agencies are searching.

They have even gotten photos from a hunters trail camera a few hundred yards from the home.

    Terrain is dense and rough.

My heart goes out to the family right now.

They found her alive overnight, thank goodness.

Helicopter spotter her, haven’t seen yet how far from home she was.

Was missing over seven hours in near freezing temps.

    What would you do:

    A) Work a job that you don’t like at all, has a commute, but has good benefits and decent pay.

    Or

    B) Work a job that’s meaningful and fun, with a better schedule and almost no commute, but has few benefits and less pay.

Seems like I've chosen 'B' pretty much my whole life. I eventually settled down in a place with few jobs and that generally requires a fair bit of creativity to make a living. But it's a beautiful place to live, with more outdoor opportunities than you could explore in a lifetime, and with a great, close-knit community of people. No amount of money could be more important to me than those things.

Eventually, it led to a job that is meaningful and fun, with pretty good pay. :D

I’ve got a job I love with a commute and great pay. So “C”?

Choice B everytime as long as you can provide for your family, even if means changing or adjusting lifestyles. You'll probably live longer and it'll definitely be a more enjoyable life.

Too many folks live a lot of their life in a car driving to and from jobs they don't like. And the sooner one makes the choice the better.

I'm making choices now that I wish I had made at 20, but it's better than waiting till I'm 45 or 50.

Today I found two little Trash Pandas in one of our bins. That bin was picked up about two weeks ago from a park and had not been dumped yet. These two probably climbed into the bin at the park, the bin was beside a bunch of trees. These two little rascals are pretty young and small, and could not climb out of the bin. No food in the bin, its bags of drywall. But they had water that pooled in the bottom of the bin.

When I opened the door up, the braver one came right over and sniffed me, rubbed his head on my hand and made little whining noises. Both were shaking, ribs starting to show a bit.

The one that got out of the bin first (i put a plank as a ramp) frantically started looking for food. I tossed a bunch of
apples down and the first one was gone in less than a minute. That lil bugger ate all 6 apples in about 20 minutes. His cohort ate three and then started digging for worms.

what i saw when i opened the door. Look at all the scratches on the bin walls, they tried frantically for like two weeks!

lil dude is not snarling here, he was frantically chomping on the apple. (this is apple #4). They didn't even wash their food like normal, they dove right into it.

yep...at the ex-gf's place we had a set of nasty ones.....I had to bear spray them after the two large ones rushed her and I on the patio and snarled and snapped at us. Even after that I had to resort to paintballs to drive them off.

these two lil kits though were very grateful......the braver one, after eating, followed me around the truck yard for a bit, like a freaking puppy.

believe me, i wanted to.......raccoon kits are VERY easy to domesticate. The first one out of the bin was licking my fingers and following me around like a puppy.

but i can only keep two creatures in the apt, as per Strata.

Why is it you can never find the knife you WANT and instead seem to find every other knife you weren’t looking for... I mean seriosly! You would think a Cr 2.5 with orange handles and a fluorescent yellow kydex sheath would be a little easier to find...

curious how they found her (what condition was she in? ) what was she doing? what did 1st responders see her doing when they found her? where?

as an extremely high functioning Aspie, I have been documenting/researching and developing a flowchart of low spectrum Autism reactions under duress and extremely high end functioning Aspies reactions under duress situations. It is my goal within a year or two to be able to publish a flowchart for LEO's, SAR, and other agencies who respond to such missing cases.

Apparently she was sitting on a tree stump.

They told her that her step father had sent them to find her (named him by name), and then she went with them.

I did a random Sunday evening through 8 am this morning fast. Was thinking about breakfast on the way home and remembered this thread.

The bacon didn't last long enough for pics and only half the eggs did.
