I was planning on knocking back a few drinks tonight, but apparently I have to work in the morning, so those aspirations have been dashed.

Instead I'm on here procrastinating doing anything productive with you lot. Gear porn, food porn, and if Zeek is around, porn porn. Cue the dissapointed look Strig gives us. Let the good times roll.

Bushy, no one knows what happened. Just go on and keep being you but in the parameters set to keep this place running smoothly. Love you. Be safe. Stay in the lines.

starting to get offers a lot lately on my Tracker. They are getting super rare and hunters seem to love them. Average price in my area is $4000+

I paid $3000 5 years ago. 265,000+ km's on it. Yet i'm still getting offers.

I put a ton of upgrades into the engine and transmission and transfer case and diffs. Over $500 in Tier 5 RedLine Synthetic ATF in the tranny/transfer case ands power steering. Redline diff gear oil front and rear. Mobil 1 Tier 5 0W40 synthetic oil in the engine. Massive aftermarket power steering, transmission coolers and remote mount spin on Donaldson 2 micron filters for both the power steering and auto trans. Off Highway 1 micron Donaldson air filter on the roof. New cylinder head and valves. Mud terrain tires, custom rack and paint job.

I've been toying with the idea of selling BOTH the Tracker and the Diesel Jeep......and building something insane.

Does anybody happen to know of a solid field sharpening stone, preferably diamond or diamond/ceramic, that isn't a Fallkniven DC, Spyderco Doublestuff or any of those cheap folding plastic DMT's?

I hate the new Fallkniven ceramics, so those are out. And the fine side of the Doublestuff is great, but the medium loads too quick and doesn't remove enough material for my liking for a field stone. As far as the folding plastic ones, the interrupted surface doesn't work for me. Needs to be a solid surface (strong personal preference).

Would absolutely love a DMT fine diamond with a spyderco fine ceramic... Or even just a DMT fine/ultra fine 4" solid steel stone... Like a mini version of my 6" DMT fine/ultra fine Dia-Sharp.

EZE-LAP makes the CD4, fine diamond/fine ceramic, which sounds nearly perfect, but apparently it's pretty much a popsicle stick in size... 4" long, 3/4" wide.

Any recommendations I haven't thought of?

I am looking this EXACT thing right now. I really need to figure out a better field sharpening setup. I watched James Gibson’s field sharpening video and I might give it a try.

Its a great system. Takes some time to get it right though. It will convex a blade faster than strop alone. File or grinder are faster of course. Not tried sandpaper though.

@Strigidae Do you happen to know what brand of diamond tool JG uses or do you have a brand to recommend?

    @Strigidae
Cool! Thank you. I have decent compound but know ZERO about the diamond tool brands so that is atleast one I recognize the name.

So I completely forgot about the Doublestuff 2, but unfortunately, I think the jump between coarse CBN and fine ceramic might just be a little too much...

Finally gave in and bought a 9v battery flashlight... If the last as long as advertised I might have enough batteries to burn it out from length of use before I run out of batteries!

I use the WorkSharp Field Sharpener for just about all of my sharpening unless something needs some real attention...

So a guy wants to trade me his izula stainless knife and i've searched but could not find the info on it. Does it have a 90 degree spine, is it easy to sharpen and does it keep an edge well?
