Thanks, they were probably the best porkchops I've ever had and I have to give the pan credit for that!
Cast iron does tend to make food taste better especially when you learn how to cook with it without scorching your food
This has probably been mentioned somewhere in the previous 34 pages, but someone recently gifted us a "chain mail" scrubber for our cast iron and it's a game changer. It cleans and buffs out our pans like nothing I've used before. I'm not sure what brand it was, but if you do a search, you can find various chain mail options.
We use one of those and they are great, however since we started using a metal spatula I rarely need to do more than a wipe with paper towel
Bacon and eggs Pork chops and potatoes The more I use this pan the more I love it. I'm just about ready to have it in our family pictures haha
I tried something new for smoothing a Lodge cast iron pan..... I soaked it in salt water and let it RUST. Every day (twice) i would use the chainmail scrubber to remove the very fine surface rust. after three weeks of this i washed it, seasoned it and its SMOOOOOOOOOTH .
As much as I like the wabi-sabi of using a pan to smooth it out I’m tempted to get a grinding bit for a drill and go to town on my cast iron. I don’t have any antique pieces so I don’t feel bad doing it to what I can easily replace if I really botch the job. I’m sure it would take a good deal of carelessness to get that far though.
That sweet! I found one on eBay too...after some practice, I finally got some some crispy waffles! Do you have to hunt down some handles and base ring?
ok i'm officially jealous and coveting your wife, er i mean your cast iron...... nice score man.......those are beautiful.
I made one of the best peach cobblers a man could eat in a Dutch oven one evening in the back yard. Cast iron cooking is one of me favorite past times.
I know it didn’t happen without pictures LOL I should have I’ll be posting pictures I’m just to busy gallivanting all over this forum so much to read, see, and learn. This is a great forum.
Ok pass granted this time LOL Cast iron cooking is abit of a lost art, it's always good to hear from folks learning the joys of the past
