BlueDogScout had the good idea of starting up a thread for bushcraft/backpacking meal ideas so I thought I would start a similar thread for camping meals in general. Since a lot of people on here do a lot of car camping we can post up and share some of our favorite meal ideas (that can be made with cooler items, stoves, etc).

So lets hear them. What are your favorite go to camping meals?

For breakfasts we usually cook eggs/sausage on the stove or have cereal/fruit/breakfast bars.

Our lunch/supper meals include brats over the fire, soup/grilled cheese, hamburger helper box meals, rice or pasta meals, sloppy joe's (we cook this ahead of time and just warm it up while camping), pudgie pies (usually ham and cheese or pizza sauce/pepperoni/cheese), pork chops and pineapple cooked in a pan, hot dogs/spaghetti o's, hot dogs / Mac N Cheese, sandwiches (ham, peanut butter, tuna, or egg salad sandwich), and my favorite hobo dinners (beef, potatoes, onions, carrots, spices, etc all wrapped in foil and cooked in the coals).

Thanks! I love cowboy stew in a Dutch oven over an open fire with another Dutch oven with cornbread. That’s a great dinner. I also love breakfast burritos.

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg First time I ever tried to make grilled pizza when camping. I think it turned out pretty good.

Hobo pouches are easy to make.

I made tacos with some leftover steak, fresh guacamole and grilled flatbread. Simple to make when camping.

Ramen and Spam is my go to meal for the woods. Breakfast lunch and dinner can be had out of one can if you pace yourself.

I don't have a pic of this dessert. Hobo pouches with apple slices, a little bit of brown sugar and a dash of cinnamon turns out really well over the fire.

can't find the photos......but this feeds like 5 or so hungry people:

    - large lodge tri legged dutch oven (16 quart or bigger)
    - large 16" lodge cast iron pan
    - large bag charcoal and cast iron accessories (bristle brush, lid lifter, foil, welding gloves etc)
    - olive oil (or use the bacon grease....)
    - 10 yellow potatoes, chunked 1"
    - 10 large chorizo sausages, 1" pieces
    - 5 lbs bacon, 1" pieces
    - 5 yellow onions diced 3/4" size
    - 5 red onions, diced 3/4" size
    - 5 bulbs garlic, 1/4" pieces
    - 4 bell peppers (2 green, 1 red, 1 orange), diced
    - 5 jalepeno peppers , diced
    - 3lbs assorted mushrooms (reg, ****ake, pine etc) , chunked
    - 2 dozen farm eggs
    - 1 loaf sourdough bread, cut into 1" chunks
    - 3 lbs shredded or cubed cheese (mix of feta, aged cheddar, smoked gouda, swiss)
    - salt, pepper, basil, oregano, cumin, coriander, chili, cayenne etc

start by prepping your charcoal and getting about 2 chimney full worth going. Place half on an aluminum cookie sheet on the ground. Get the dutch oven hot. Place the other half on a second cookie sheet and get the frying pan hot.

    - fry the bacon in the pan, but NOT crispy, just enough to get a good amount of bacon fat. Pour that fat into the dutch oven and start browning the spuds on all sides. Add some rosemary during this.

    - add the sausages to the fry pan and get them browned. Add the sausage and the bacon to the dutch oven. Mix in with the spuds.

    - add the onions, peppers, mushrooms and garlic to the fry pan and lightly saute, then transfer to the dutch oven. Also add the bread and spices after this. Mix and then transfer to the dutch oven.

Add all the eggs and cheese, reserving 1lb of cheese for topping. Mix everything well and add the cheese on top.

Cover the dutch oven with the heavy lid and pile on the briquettes. If windy wrap foil around as a wind screen. Rotate the oven every 10 minutes, and the lid as well for even heat.

It’s a prototype a buddy made for me. Holds a tin with coffee, a bottle of seasoning, a tube of B-fat and a patch. If you do Instagram, he is Mr Leonidas001. He had a pretty big YouTube page at one time. Did lots of knife reviews. He makes hanks and various sew goods.
