I prefer the 9 all day long over the 4. I like the 4, but you have to concentrate more on hitting the sweet spot. The 9 out chops it, imho. That said, it's still fun to use the 4 on occasion. Makes a cool draw knife. Another disadvantage on the 4, is batonning. The handle tends to hit the ground before the blade goes all the way through.

Made some tinder with the bk62 for a little fire to burn some yard debris.

I forget you have a BK9. I need to “test drive” one of them.

It's a beast, but does a good job on the fine stuff.

That red oak is like iron, and im able to beat it through that. If you can tell by the picture it's a wavy grain, and I was able to still get some decent curls. Even after battoning some kindling.

I looks a lot like the live oak I was burning last winter. Most of the sub 10” rounds I was splitting were twisted like cork screws. I batoned most of my kindling with my 5 and Junglas. I’ve come close to buying a BK9 several times but ended up backing out thinking it and the Junglas fill the same niche.

I have an rtak 2 and prefer the bk9. I think there are three Beckers knives you should own a bk9, bk16, and a bk62.
