Just finished up another weekend of caving with a couple of our canyoneering friends from Utah.

Missed you, Guyon. Fun time. No chiggers. Part of the group even walked out at lunch time and brought pizza back. Only issues we had were all the visitors. Too many folks go Stephens Gap.

Looks like fun. Glad the wet pulldown was passable. Also glad I stuck around home. 23rd anniversary only comes once.

Wife took my daughter to Girl Scouts this afternoon though, and I broke out a "Steering" prime short, rigged a tree, returned my double-bungee rope walker back to its original, glorious configuration (except for the new pulley), and practiced changeovers. After seeing the attention to gear management at the cave rescue class, I felt a little more in the know with this system. And I cut out some of the gear mess on my rig so that it was actually a lot easier. I probably did 7 or 8 full changeovers (ascend to rappel, rappel to ascend), and in the morning, before the eclipse madness starts, I may go out to that little 25' practice bluff and practice edge transitions with the rope walker.

I decided, if I'm going to experiment with a Mitchell, I'll just rig a dedicated Mitchell system with CMI ascenders and cut down on all the gear interchange.

If it was Joe's Pizza, I hate all of you.

Y'all needed Doug there to drop some rock bombs on them!

Fairly obvious that they came to Bama to get a few more wives.

It was indeed Joe's pizza. Speaking of Mitchell Systems, I made the climb out of Stephens in 6 minutes to the top which is a good time but then screwed around for another 2 minutes getting out of the keyhole. Just wasn't feeling it yesterday. Also, the basic ascender was not running smooth on the pit rope. I still need to do some adjusting or ditch the bungee altogether. Glad I didn't bounce Surprise with the system running ragged like it did yesterday. Also, I'm not a fan of the stiff steps. Think I will go back to my regular foot loops. We ran into a group at Stephens that had bounced surprise the day before. They got out at 1:30 in the morning got a few hours rest and then came directly Stephens. They left that evening headed to another pit up around Mont Eagle.

6 minutes is good time! And now I want a Joe's Supreme with anchovies on half. So screw all of you.

I like the stiff steps on the double bungee, but I find that small steps/strokes are the key. Smaller cycles and the right angle also cut down on the Croll banging hell out of my shin. Well... that and the shin guards my wife fashioned for me out of Harbor Freight knee pads.

I'm consciously low profile on FB. My wife and my sister are my only friends, and I'll "unfriend" them in a heartbeat if they don't tow the line. If it wouldn't hurt their feelings, I would do it right now. On a positive note, FB cannot get a bead on me, and it is hilarious some of the folks that FB says I should know. About a third of them appear to be hookers.

Understand that. Most of my friends on Facebook are indeed male hookers and Jehovas Witness.

Holy Shiite, I can go to my grave happy knowing that I made it longer than you without being on the Book of Faeces.

Speaking of snakes @Guyon, we have found 14 in 2 days out hiking and our yard Garter Snake popped out 16 crawlers a few days ago.
