While similar to the first three seasons, #4 adds some interesting twists. Two people, dropped off in different locations with the task of finding each other and then establishing a camp, yet they are still burdened with camera equipment and other gear necessary to film the show. It was one thing to be dropped off and then set up camp close to the drop off point, but being separated and needing to locate each other while lugging their gear and the camera stuff with them, not knowing how far they will have to go before they are united with their partners, that really makes it much more difficult, at least it seems that way to me.

We are not talking about fairly flat prairie on VC Island.

Not sure how you can continue to call the show "Alone" after making them work in teams....

Spoke with Fowler for a few minutes at Blade last weekend. It was pretty interesting to get his take on the editing and how much they left out.

Granted, you have to leave out a lot with as much raw footage as they have. I feel season three did a particularly bad job with editing out stuff I was interested in, and showing a lot more crying.

However, it's still my favorite survival "reality" show. Probably the most relatable for most people.

I'm also glad to see they didn't do Patagonia again. It just seemed like easy mode compared to Vancouver Island.

I am waiting for someone to kill a large animal, boar, deer, bear, lion, whatever. Not much excitement in watching a gill net do it's thing.

That's easy, because I drink alone, yeah. With nobody else.
You know when I drink alone, I prefer to be by myself.

Except when I hang out with my dear old granddad.
    And we drink alone, yeah,
    With nobody else......

Season 4 and no one has built a still???

When I joined the Boy Scouts my dad told me,
"It doesn't take an expert to be miserable."

I thought the exact same thing. Apparently somebody at the network was drinking a bit too much that day...

759,366 people survive it every day. Not much of a challenge if you ask me.

Ok. I have no idea who will win this season, but my sentimental favorite right now is Team Whipple. While it says they are from Alaska, they were shown in Reed City, Michigan. Reed City is only 30 miles south of me and I have spent significant time in the Reed City area. Thus I am pulling for them.;):D:D:D:D

Brooke Whipple has some shelter building skills. Pretty nice home she is creating while waiting for her husband to arrive.

Too early for a spoiler from last night. However, let me just say "I called that" after watching the bio episode.

Yeh it certainly had to be one long, somber ride home back to IL.

Big brother held it together pretty well, but little brother better need crutches for at least a week or so otherwise big brother will want to kick his butt.

Compound fracture would have been worth tapping out. I know a twisted ankle can hurt and I am not all that tough, but my pride would not have allowed me to tap out before my brother got there. That ocean is pretty chilly and I could have spent much of my days fishing and soaking my foot in the water to keep the swelling down until my brother could get there and we could talk about it.

I've twisted my ankle more times than I'd care to think about. If he was able to walk an hour back to his gear, it wasn't anything worth tapping for.

I told my buddies that those brothers would be the first ones out. Not that I would do any better. At least I don't kid myself into thinking I can.

The wife and husband from Alaska/Michigan will be contenders for sure. As long as they don't miss the kids too much.
