Thermometer said 93, so let’s go into the woods. Only a little over 3 miles but a great time. Check out that mushroom growing in the hole in the tree. Paw paws made a treat. I stood in 2.5 feet deep pool in the creek til I cooled off. Great time. The Izula is always ready to have her pic taken.
I read earlier that a couple maybe 3 Chinese people got caught with 29 box turtles. I guess they are a popular pet in China. They are pretty much a pest down here.
My dad made some turtle nuggets one time and tried to tell me it was chicken. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good because it wasn't what I was told. It was sort of rubbery, from what I remember.
I’ve had popcorn turtle dozens of times. Turtle and rabbit is best fried off the bone in nugget form.
If you want rubbery. Take the eggs outta the female turtle when you’re cleaning and scramble them. Rubbery is the perfect description.
A quick little walk trail today gave some great views. Hmm it says my two scenic photos exceed size limits. First time I’ve got that on this site
Fall was in the air today. Did a few miles hiking. Found a 50+ year old home place with pears bearing. Picked the last of the pawpaw fruit in my area. Ate a few more ripe poke berries and a pawpaw along with my carried along meal. Notice the Beech tree and Tulip Poplar growing side by side. I’m hoping they’ll produce a Peech or Boplar tree. Good times
Another Sunday, another stroll in the woods. Nothing much happened today. I had a good time though. The mushroom is a false coral. Made coffee. Ate a great $1 snack.
Did 5 miles today. Temp was 88 and humid. Picked the last pawpaw of the season. Saw some ginseng. Made coffee. Enjoyed the Starkist lunch. Good times
