Hello from TN-----I've just received my first ever ESEE----the ESEE 6. At first glance/feel, it's everything I've hoped for. What should I coat blade with to protect it? Thx--Steve

If protection is indicated, @RedEyedHog B-Fat is a good choice or mineral oil.

you have TONS of options....if food safe is your goal then ANY cooking oil you have in your cabinet will work....light coat, especially on the uncoated surfaces will do it...doesn't have to be a heavy coat.

Wiping it off before resheathing is another great tip.

Also, understand that surface rust is NOT a big deal....it will NOT affect the knife at all and will often come off with MORE use...or a piece of steel wool or appropriate grit sand paper.

Mine get a touch of olive oil or some other oil found in the kitchen.... foodsafe fore sure.
People write these oils can go rancid... but I've never experienced this.

This is what i do. Usually B-fat is handier so it gets used more often.
