My little Miniature Schnauzer (barely even meets the requirements to be called a dog) howls like a wolf in his sleep. Makes all kinds of noises... sounds much more like a wild and much bigger animal while sleeping. It's odd...

My son has a French bulldog that makes more noise sleeping than a beast in the wild haha

According to a dog food commercial I saw, inside every dog lives the soul of a wolf.

Of course they also said dogs are carnivores and crave meat while I watched my daughter's dog eat cat **** and rocks.

My wife’s Lab X sometimes woofs and twitches in her sleep. My Elkhound makes the same frustrated whinny noise that he uses when trying to excavate a mouse, chipmunk or any critter that has gone to ground. There’s something going on in their little brains.
I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a cat act out while sleeping and scientists claim they have nearly as much brain activity as a human. Must have something to do with that kitty aloofness.

Yeah, both mine bark, growl and appear to be running (all legs moving etc) in their sleep.

My 30 pound dog turns into a 150 pound dog in her sleep. Or so you'd think with the amount of room she takes up.

Pip snuffles in his sleep, and MissCopper has twitchy leg and tiny grunts

We had one dog (German shepard/greyhound mix) that would mostly have happy dreams, with twitchy feet, and little woofs, but occasionally she would make fierce growling noises, then wake up and whirl around like her life was in danger. I guess even dogs have nightmares sometimes.

Mine goes 4 leg running and barks...it's kinda creepy but he calms if I pet him and talk. I wonder what he sees in the dream world....

My hundred pound lab wines like a little girl in his sleep. He needs to snore like a man.

Yeah the bark / howl during sleep doesn't sound anything like when it's awake.

My wife had a shi tzu that recently passed. He would lay on the couch sound asleep and scare himself awake with a fart. He'd shoot off the couch onto the middle of the floor and turn around and stare at where he'd been sleeping.

Maybe he was dreaming of a prison shower scene?
