puttering around the house today....made a hefty copper pipe lighter from odds and ends and old Zippo remnants I had laying around. Originally it was going to be a simple copper pipe matchcase, but I found a little UST MicroSparkWheel in the gear box...and so it began....drilled the copper endcap, filed down the square part on the UST MicroSparkWheel so it would fit thru the hole, and used an old zippo brass wick tube for the wick tube. ready for flux and solder i need a smaller micro torch.....the big plumbers torch and massive solder rod was like using a truck to crack an egg.......lol.. some filing and emory paper sanding of the top piece finished cap/striker wheel/wick assembly into the Brass Black for antiquing packing cotton in the base done (almost, still need a cap for the wick tube)
yea, its pretty rough actually...i could have done it better , but i used stuff i had lying around the house...was too lazy from 4 sirloin cheeseburgers to actually go to the hardware store to get more copper stock....LOL.... sometimes its just fun to putter around the shop, er, kitchen.........and make something because its fun and why not.
