I have not had a Izula in my stable of knives for a couple years. So I bought a stainless steel model. I have some pretty cool handle material I am going to use to make some scales for her. 20170518_131027.jpg

I love the izula, but I carrynthe Hest original everyday as my edc. And the others where not seeing any action so I sold them. Now that I have one back I can not imagine not having one in my line up.

I'm particularly interested in pairing the 2 stainless models for skinning/dressing game, as it seems that a knife used solely for these purposes ought to be a hard stainless steel. Perhaps that was the idea, I'm not sure.

Most butchers use carbon blades, easier to sharpen if need to while butchering. But I agree stainless holds a edge better so not sure which is better. Guess it comes to personal preference.

From what I've seen, huntin' folk seem to prefer a long lasting edge over am an easily sharpened edge because of the limited amount of time one has to process game.

It would be a shame to have to sharpen your knife in the middle of processing an elk, I guess.

I have never had any of my carbon blades dull on me while butchering one or two white tails, or even the black bear I help butcher.

Finished putting some custom scales on my stainless Izula. It's called Oster shell, think it looks pretty sweet. Use stainless steel pin, and stainless steel tubing. Epoxy the scales then pinned them. Next is a good leather neck sheath for her.
