    Anyone have one? Thoughts?

I have settled back into EDC blades with roughly 3" blades. I have a few Spydercos, Benchmade Mini-Grips, a CRK Small Insingo, and a few traditional and random other knives.

I ran across the Mini-Barrage online and it caught my attention.

Great little knife. I have custom one and I love it. I think it's worth trying out.

I have the full sized version with g10. Probably my favorite knife. Would like it even better it it wasn't assisted.

I too prefer unassisted knives. That was one of my reservations.

I've had assisted Kershaws open in my pocket and when dropped on hard surfaces and I have never really gotten over that. I like the Barrage models come with a lock if one chose to use it.

That's the route I'll probably go as well if I try it out. I'll order custom and all blacked out G10.

Looks like you can do a limited edition color - Kelly Green - if you build your own.

Hows M4 steel in a coated blade as far as corrosion resistance? I mean for daily use as long as I keep the sharpened edge wiped down after use do you see any potential issues?

Not sure if the Barrage is the same, but the coating under the washers on the Axis Stryker is removed for a smoother ride, so that's probably the only other area of consideration in terms of corrosion. Keep it oiled and it shouldn't be a problem

I'm still not decided on the steel - of the knife even at this point. Just looking for something "new" in the same size's as the mini-Grip. This one fit the bill.

For the fit and finish and materials the price seems a little high. And the more I look at Benchmade designs the less inspired I become. The full size grip was my first "nice" folder and it was cool bit then I started handling other companies knives and I became less impressed. Like would I rather have to fI'll size grips or a ZT.....I will always go with ZT

I had a mini barrage. It was okay. Ended up with the full size with g10 and aluminum handles and M390. The full size is very large. The mini ended up moving on trade to someone who I thought would really appreciate the size.

The assist is interesting. I'm not much a fan of assist now like I used to be. I've never had a problem with accidental launch on the barrage. I just find it a bit of a pita the extra trouble it takes to close it which also loads the spring of course. The mech in the kershaw and the benchmade are totally different. The coil load in the Benchmade is lighter over farther travel and doesn't have a breaking point like kershaw. In kershaws assist, the loading starts about half way and gets more difficult until it breaks and then the knife closes. Benchmade assist is lighter but even along the entire length of the action.

If I had one gripe, the handle is a bit more chunky than it needs to be.

I'll also add that even though I don't have extensive experience with Benchmade's M4, I know 91bravo said there is a huge discrepancy between Benchmade and Spyderco M4 with spydercos being substantially better. I do like Benchmade M390.

All good info. I might just say forget it and order another set of AWT or Wilkins scales to dress up my last mini-Grip that is still wearing OEM handles. That would make it even better and keep me from adding another knife to the rotation.

I just ordered a 555 mini Grip but I believe it doesn't come with the deep pocket carru clip. Where can I get just that clip?

Email Benchmade and ask. They will send you one for free.
