Ramen fried rice... kinda anyway, lol.

Crush up the noodles until it's all in small pieces... put enough water in a skillet or frying pan to cover the bottom... add the noodles, about a spoonfull of butter, the spice packet and cook on high.

Once all the water is gone and it's " frying " add a couple of eggs, soy sauce and / or some sesame oil, and whatever veggies.

Veggies need to be pre cooked, because once the eggs are done it needs to come off the heat.

I haven't tried those. I was seeing a girl from Guam for awhile and she turned me on to tons of legit ramen. Now I live like 20 miles from the closest grocery and I dunno how far from closest Asian grocery. There is some great Ramen out there though that isn't that stuff you see on the bottom shelf 20pack with this guy on it:D.

My nephews were over, and after a hard day of training, they were awarded the honor of making dinner for us. One threw together 5 minute rice with completed noodles, and fried it in a pan with some hot sauce. I have to admit, it wasn't bad at all. Super cheap, quick to make, and a little chicken or egg would have been perfect in it.

A restaurant one town over, they do sushi also, and half off ramen bowls when it's raining :) Probably because it almost never rains here...

Restaurants would be out of business around here if they offered half off while it's raining over the past month or so.

Just found this thread. Short of restaurant ramen, which I love (many options like @chorpie picture.) My favorite AND available ramen is https://www.amazon.com/Nongshim-Shin-Black-Noodle-Spicy/dp/B00BEIKRBY
Amazon's price is jacked right now, but they can be had for $1.50-$2 a cup around me in regular grocery stores. They are good noodles and in addition to the tasty spicy broth packet, there is a pot-au-feu packet. While pot-au-feu is a bit generic, think bone broth that is kind of white and creamy from the marrow and has a taste kind of like buttery rendered connective tissue. yum. This is another winner, but they are hard to find. https://www.amazon.com/NongShim-Kalguksu-hooroorook-chopped-noodles/dp/B007AIYDVW

Favorite ramen prep includes stovetop/open fire noodle cooking. I use the packets that come with the ramen usually. If its not cheap crap ramen, salt is not the only flavor. Add a couple dashes of chili sesame oil and a some fresh of freeze dried chives. Make a corn starch and cold water slurry on the side. Swirl the noodle water and stir the corn starch in so that it has a minute or so before you remove the pot from the heat. Also on the side, heavily stir a couple eggs with a fork. Remove the thickened noodle soup from the heat, swirl the water again and slowly pour the scrambled raw egg into the liquid. It becomes egg drop soup with noodles and veggies in it. The remaining heat easily cooks the egg. Such easy and cheap additions.

Favorite untraditional use of ramen is the quick cook dried noodles smashed up and used as crunch in a salad, especially some random fresh, whatever is ready, garden/fruit salad. Packaged ramen is not overly crunchy and can certainly be munched straight from the package.

Cross post of some ramen pron from the culinary goodness thread. http://www.eseeknives.com/forums/index.php?threads/culinary-goodness.236/page-14#post-44022

Ramen alone is poverty. When you can mix it with something that's blue collar ;)

This is the first post that did not make me gag, or die a little inside.

But chorpie, have you tried covering it in mayo and insta-can spray cheese?

I think covering it in mayo and spray cheese would make ME die a little inside. Or i'd get botulism.
