I’m liking my tin can stove. This one I made today was a pineapple chunk can which allows perfect nesting inside my Stanley Adventure cook pot. The pineapple chunk alcohol tin can stove holds my plastic stanley cup that holds coffee packets, lighter, matches, various drink powders etc. Which sits inside a sweet potatoes twig fire can that goes into an olive drab zipper bag. I tried it several different ways, seems to work well in any configuration. The big sweet potato can can used upside down or as is for a wind break or it appears you can use it as an elevated stovetop. With this kit you can boil water in dry times with twig fire or wet rainy times with the alcohol stove part. I only have left to find some spill proof 2 oz bottles for my Heet or Everclear soon as I can pick up a fifth. Opinions on this or a better smaller lighter more compact kit? @Bushman5 if you had to narrow down to one option of yours as a lightweight multi option stove, various fuel, container, carrier and all, what would yours be?
Nice! I just ordered one of these backpacking stoves the other day. Arriving later this week and I plan on using it for a trip in June. Hoping it works well! https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0125U36Q2?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image
Haven't tried it but if you are looking for something small and lightweight this fits the bill... https://www.amazon.com/Esbit-Ultral...JdIjGpzJts2-A8TLH5OHVVxy-A4BBjcxoCU4oQAvD_BwE
BRO! there are so many options out there….. kinda boils down to how much you want to spend….. Depends too on intended use….. - are you just boiling water for a brew up or soaking instant noodles etc ? - or are you cooking or reheating food (say like a can of beans) ? If I had to choose one….. it would be my Ghillie Kettle MKettle , with my MSR Titan ti mug - and a bottle of methyl hydrate alcohol . Use wood twigs when I can , and the alcohol when there is fire bans. It would boil water , plus heat up food (tinned beans etc) in the cup
Don’t forget too there’s no shame in using tin cans to build stoves. They are FREE. They work . They are pretty light. No need to shell out $$$ for fancy titanium when a free tin can does the same thing . that being said, I’m a gear Ho . And I love titanium
I quit using alcohol stoves long ago. I prefer the twig stoves. You can make one easily enough, but I use a Ti one by Vargo.
