I've got an Atlas and a Magpul, both are rock solid bipods, the Magpul actually gets the edge in range of motion by a little but they are pretty comparable beyond the materials used. You can use chunks of 1/2 dowel to extend the legs on the Atlas, carbon fiber lets you really lean on it as opposed to wood dowels. Both great kit but I think you can buy two Magpuls for one Atlas, that is the biggest difference I actually notice.

Well, I got a deal on a different barrel. When I was putting it on, I ruined my upper by being an idiot. I ordered a stripped BCM upper to replace it and figured I’d break out the arts and crafts while I wait for the new upper to show up.

Warm Caramel and the darkest OD green camo paint (can't remember the exact name). Both Rustoleum. The Caramel is a Satin paint so I finished it with Rustoleum matte clear.

Thanks! I get to do it all over again. I figured while I'm at it, I might as well just replace the lower receiver with something I know I'll keep forever.

It's all done except for the lower receiver change once the Geissele gets here. These weren't the final assembly pictures, so the scope still wasn't leveled, gas block and tube weren't installed and the Surefire wasn't timed. It's all set and ready to go now though. In the pictures it looks kind of bronze/orange. I assure you in person it's a very "red clay" type of brown.

    Surefire 3 Prong Warcomp
BA Premium Fluted 16" barrel w/ crosspinned gas block
    Bootleg Midlength gas tube
    Cross Machine 15" HDM rail
Atlas CAL w/ Area 419 clamp and Hawk Hill Talons
    True North hand stop
    BCM upper
    BCM BCG
    BCM Mod3 CH
    Arken SH4 Gen2 4-16
    Geissele Super Duty Lower
    Geissele SSA-E
    Various other Geissele lower parts
    B5 SOPMOD stock

It still needs an offset RDS and a flashlight before I'll call it "complete". One day, an RC2 and a Nightforce o_O

Well when I took it out to shoot, I was getting some really wild POI shifts. It was all over the place. I chalked it up to it being a brand new barrel and shooting 55gr out of a 1:8 barrel. The next time I took it out, the zero was way off from where I had previously set it. Scratching my head, I checked everything and confirmed that all of my witness marks still lined up so nothing had shifted mechanically. Then it dawned on me, I've only been shooting bolt guns for accuracy within the last 7-8 years. I picked up a habit of aggressively loading my bipod while in the prone and I realized that I had been doing the same with this rifle. I took it out again with the 55gr stuff and didn't load the bipod. The POI was shifted a bit from my POA but it was at least consistent. Once I have some more time I'll go out and rezero without purposefully torquing my barrel in one direction lol.

I've had this stripped upper and lower around for about 10 years and didn't know what to do with them. I finally decided that I needed a backpack gun, and ended up building this:

    Here's a pic folded, it's about 18 and 5/8ths inches folded. PXL_20231205_211437868.jpg

It's built on a Seekins Precision forged lower that I've had for years, and an upper that I don't remember the manufacturer of.

The LPK is also Seekins, with their ambi safety (60 degree throw), magazine and bolt catch/release.

Edit: the trigger is a LaRue MBT-2S

The heart of it is a Rosco Manufacturing "Sauce Pack" with their 8.2" 300 BLK barrel, BCG, and gas block & tube.

It has a Griffin Armament 7.5" rail, and a Griffin Armament Minimalist Flash Hider and blast can. It's sporting an AXTS Radian charging handle.

Of course, the Law Tactical folding adapter, SB Tactical brace (thanks, injunctions*), BCM grip, Magpul MBUS Gen 3, and a Trijicon MRO on a LaRue mount.

I cheaped out on the light with an Olight Odin Mini. We'll see how it holds up.

The sling is from Warrior Poet Society, and I really dig it.

    I think that covers it.

Messing around with my .45. The slide was done in the krylon camo od green a while back. I recently found the krylon camo woodland green and decided to do the frame. Slide and frame have a rustoleum greenish gray self etching primer as a base coat. Top pick is full sun, middle in shade. Woodland green is a bit light but I like how it looks in the shade. It’s the best olive tone I’ve found so far.

GG&G finally came through with the MLOK clamp for their aluminum magazine tube cover.

Only thing left that I'm waiting on is the MatchSaver.
