Any love for the folding saws around here?
Great to team up with a fixed blade for fire prep

Love my lightweight Opinel # 12 saw

Oh Yeah! great tools for sure. My favorites are Silky Big Boy 2000, a few Bahco folders, the little Opinel #12 is a great pocket or pack saw!
The Silky has done some pretty serious trail clearing for me over the years, almost easier than dragging the chainsaw out for smaller stuff.

I have an Silky Hayauchi pole saw, it's a great saw. Even the little swiss army knife saws do a pretty darn good job for their tiny size.

I keep a Bahco in the ATV bag and a Wyoming saw in the Xterra.

The I usually carry my Milwaukee M18 chainsaw in the Xterra as I've run into some things across the trails before than you COULD handle with a hand saw, but you'd be there all night doing it.

BigBoy, Gomboy 240 and Pocketboy 170, all with medium teeth. A Pocketboy 130 will be the next one. Love them!

Spent all my cash on ESEE Knives, so no fancy saw for me, just old school.

The Silkys did a damn fine job cutting a lot of wood recently.

Thanks, I'm happy to use them both outdoors and at the yard, very handy tools. I would love to get a BigBoy with the curved blade.

Any of you sharpen your own saws? If so, what file do you recommend?

I don't myself but I know a guy that makes big money doing it, one of his biggest complaints is the world is running out of new old stock saw files and nothing new is worth a crap. He ended up importing a large lot of Tome Feteira from Portugal, said they were all he could find that had any quality or consistency. Watch the resale shops for any old Disston, Atkins, Simonds, Heller, or old school pre WWII Nicholson files.

These are the only three that really get any dirt time. The Bahco needs a new blade for sure, I enjoy all 3 though. 475617DB-4C5F-424D-94CC-285366896F1C.jpeg 07C3D50D-4A15-41A7-A876-44DE0620BD45.jpeg 01451613-C6E9-4B25-AD41-06C5DE654E28.jpeg
