That's a great idea! I love the alox models but I find myself not carrying them too often because I use the T&T so much. This could be a game changer! Thanks for sharing.

I might look into that for my Farmer X. I've realized that the tweezers are one of the handiest things on a SAK.

So after talking to my brother in law and sending him some sketches he designed and 3D printed me on of these for my Farmer x. The issue I had with the noose wrap is how unreliably the tweezers went back in. So this is what we can up with. Let me know what you guys think.

Ok, I didn’t want to plow thru 37 pages looking for a clue. How would you sak junkies recommend cleaning one? Y’all have field dressed deer, pigs, fish, right? Hair, tissue, fat, blood…the sak has a lot of moving parts. What would your technique look like?

Edit: I did look on Google and with production from the 1890’s and lots of surviving examples from WW 1 -WW 2 these things weren’t safe queens, they were used. The information I was looking for just wasn’t readily available.

No joke you can run them through the dish washer, remove all the scale tools and put it on the top rack or in the utensil bin, I have never had an issue, just don't use heated dry, not sure if it would warp the scales.

Or simply use dish soap, sponge & brush if needed. Warm water so it dries faster. If you have an air compressor blow it out after washing it. A drop of WD40 or 3 in One on the hinges will do wonders too. Flitz if you need to polish the blade.

There are a lot of YouTube videos about Swiss army Knife maintenance. But it’s not like it’s much different than any other knife.

Lastly is to send it to Victorinox for repair if it’s really bad. Just know they may send you a replacement, not new, just a different knife than the one you sent in that is fixed. That happened to me.

Felix Immler has one of the best SAK YouTube channels. I don’t recall seeing him do a cleaning video though.

    Have fun.

I rinse mine out with soapy water and a toothbrush then spray it down with WD40 and wipe it off.

You guys are a bad influence. I want a Pioneer or a Farmer style with the main and secondary blades, saw, and a nail file. Alox green aluminum scales. I’m not particular about other tools, the scissors might be nice but not necessary to the overall design.

I wound up selling my Farmer X in favor of a Climber. The saw was less useful in my everyday life than the tweezers and toothpick.

And I can always grab my Huntsman if I need the saw too.

I have the same exact knife for about a year now...Love it and my favorite form factor from a SAK. The scissors, saw, and orientation of the awl are just perfect for me.

    Anyone has a Ranger Wood?
I'm really thinking of getting one, but not sure how the wood scales would hold up to moisture.
The one hander with plastic scales is always an option.

I've been drooling over those for quite a while, beautiful knives. Curious to hear experiences too.

I'm not really sure that the wood is treated with oil, I have seen a Forester wood and it looked pretty dry, however Victorinox should know their stuff.

I'm not a big fan of the corkscrew, but the knife looks awesome and who knows, I might become a wine drinker :D

It's really looks vs practicality, a hard choice for sure. I know that I will end up with both at the end..

The Forester is a huge pocket knife, that's what keeps me from buying one, my Pioneer does most jobs just fie :D
